Question: Is it easy to get a job as a process/chemical engineer in an oil company? Are there a lot of competitors? Thanks!!
Answer: there may be competition but there is for all jobs. thats a great field to pursure, especially with the monstor oil companies now. good luck!!
Question: What's the differences between chemical engineering and process engineering? Can anybody tell me the differences and similarities between these two courses? The syllabus, career opportunity, salary, working as chemical engineer, working as process engineer, etc.
I've been offered a bachelor in process engineering. The programme is in the faculty of chemical engineering in the university. So, I wanna know more about process engineering. What field do process engineers work? Can a process engineer work in oil and gas company?
Answer: I am a chemical engineer by education and my titles in the past 16 years have been , manufacturing engineer, process engineer, yield and productivity improvement engineer, and engineering consultant.
In general, I ave worked as process engineer in each role.
A process engineer, by strict definition, does not have to be c chemical engineer. There are process engineers of every engineering background.
The process engineer is responsible for a process or part of a process normally in a manufacturing operation. The responsibilities normally include ensuring normal operation of the process and continuous improvement of the process.
As a chemical engineer, my processes have always been related to manufacture of a chemical, e.g. Nylon manufacture, Insulin manufacture, etc.
If I worked for Lexmark in printer manufacturing, I could be a mechanical engineer, but also still have the title process engineer. There my responsibilities would be to ensure the printer mfg process is working.
As a role, most chemical engineers are employed as process engineers, because that is the need of the industry.
Question: what are some awards a chemical process engineer receive?
Answer: Money
Employee of the month
Some back in to scientific studies. This would be Discovery awards and even Nobel.
Question: A self employed Chemical Engineer is owed £4,000 for his professional services given to a large process manuf A self employed Chemical Engineer is owed £4,000 for his professional services given to a large process manufacturing company. How can he get his money by using the English court system?
Answer: Try the Small Claims Court
Be sure that everything is in the correct names as someone we took to court wriggled out of it because we'd summonsed the wrong company name. (He was pretty devious and used a number of trading names.)
Good luck!
Question: Can a chemical engineer work as a construction engineer and end up in operations managment ? I am a junior chemical engineer who has worked for a year in instrumention but did not enjoy it too much was very plain. But got an opportunity now to work as a contruction/estimating engineer in the oil and gas side of things.
Would a construction/estimating position help me get more involved with process engineering down the road and perhaps operations managment 20 years down. Is it good to take this path.
I do not seem to get a break as a pure process engineer at this point (my grades are not the greatest) and usually the bigger companies like shell etc look at grades before they give anyone any sort of change.
regards
Answer: It is always good to gain as many different experiences, may jobs need the same core skills - the ability to learn, get along with people, manage adversity, and the pure technical skills.
No one can tell you if that path will work for you - but if it's an interesting job, I recommend you take it. I've been in IT for 20+ years, but have done so many different jobs, I use my past experirences to work on the next one.
Question: what is the chemical engineering and what is the difference between Process & Production Engineer?
Answer: I don't know much .....this is sure job opportunities for Process and Prod. are more......
Question: What is the process gives much salary to engineers in chemical technology? Chemical engineering has many process, in them, which gives much amount of salary for engineers ?
Answer: I think you want to know about the sector that pays the highest salaries to chemical engineers. I think it is the petro chemical industries sector.
Question: The daily production of a chemical engineering process is a normally distributed random variable with...? a mean of 400 tons and a variance of 225 tons^2.
a) Find the probability a day's production will be between 373 tons and 427 tons.
b) Find the probability a day's production will be less than 390 tons.
Answer: μ=400 [tons]
σ²=225 [tons²]→σ=15
z=(X-μ)/σ
a.)z₁=-9/5
z₂=9/5
P(z₁≤X≤z₂)=F(z₂)-F(z₁)
b.)z=-2/3
P(z≤X)=1-F(z)
Where F(Z) is the antiderivative of the normal distribution function evaluated at Z which can usually be found in table at the back of most statistic books.
Question: What is the use of the process simulation softwares in chemical process industries? I expect the answer from the chemical engineering point of view from you.
Answer: Process simulation software allows the engineer to model a whole or a part of a process on the computer. The software usually has modules such as distillation columns or reactors which already know all the fundamental equations for that specific unit op. Thus, if you use the distillation column module, you give it an inlet stream and you have outlet streams that can go to some other part of the process. Then, you specify certain parameters about the column in the module and it does the calculations and determines what the outlet conditions are. The software makes it easy to design and test systems that otherwise would require the engineer to calculate all by hand or to develop a complicated program to calculate.
Since the simulation is based on best fit type equations for the unit ops, most processes would then go to a pilot plant study before the full scale plant was built.
Question: Is it better to stick in mining or move to cement industry for a new chemical engineer? Graduated a year back, my ideal employment would be oil and gas but dont seem to be getting the right break. I worked in pulp and paper for 6 months did enjoy it. I moved to mining consultancy and it seem all I do is paper pushing and not learning much the boss is partly to blame. Got a job offer from the cement industry in a field/operation position.
Im wondering if I should make a switch or rather stick on with the mining consultancy for another year (its been one year already) and I do not see to be learning much but I do not want to shift industries based solely on my boredom and impulsive attitude.
Does a large cement company provide a good avenue for growth in terms of process engineering, pay and future job stability? in constrast to mining (btw I do know oil and gas is the best bet)
thanks
Answer: The only thing I've done to be related to mining in any way is mountain stone,However I have several friends who are in the cement industry on a small scale and they say that it is a very lucrative work if you know your stuff. So if you are as well educated as you appear on screen then you would almost definitely have many chances for advances in the cement industry once you show what you know.
I hope this helps you with your quandry nevertheless it is ultimately YOUR decision.
