Question: What kind of engineer builds bridges? I'm doing a project in my design & tech class and I can't find the answer anywhere. Thanks!
Answer: Structural Engineers. don't let the mechanical and civil engineer fool you.
Question: a civil engineer on constructing building/bridges ect or an Arcitech on the designing of buildings/bridges ect okay, i'm a 14 year old teen from the goldcoast in Australia and i really wanna think about my studies and money in the future, for family, health and fun sake. so which job get more of the pay? the designer Arcitech or the constructing engineer? i really wanna knw, but with a ranged of 4 years in a university (5 years or more is just huge for my teen head right now lol) my parents say i have a talent in arts and designing, and i could use that as Arcitech right, but i've also seen some notices that say that the civil engineer gets more money than the Arcitech, so can anyone help?
Answer: hi, i'm from the us but i know that here typically civil engineers make more money. I think that architcture is more creative, though. Both make liveable salaries, you need to decide if money or creativity is more important. You are young, too! Many people change their minds several times about their careers, so don't worry about it too much.
Question: If you're an engineer building a bridge you NEED a degree in engineering for insurance Whats the story with acting..................................… oppose to engineering..
as oppose, sorry
Answer: It comes down to the definition of a profession.
Generally a profession is a pursuit or vocation that calls for:
1. A college degree
2. An advanced degree in the subject from a graduate school.
3. Apprenticeship, interneship or the like for a certain period of time
4. The passing of an examination given by a quasi-government agency like the Bar, the Medical Profession, the engineering profession, etc.
5. The taking of an oath where you commit yourself to observing the rules of the profession and of the state where you practrice
6. Certification by that quasi-government agency (See $4)
7. Contuining Education Units. You have to keep studying for the rest of your professional career to keep up with latest in the profession
8. Your profession publishes a learned journal, to which you may or may not contribute. It is peer-reviewed, meaning all submissions are reviwed by the alpha dogs in your profession
9. You get fancy initials after your name
10. You get a certain position in your community -- respect, high fees, a title like doctor or counselor or reverend or general
11. Subject to the approval or blacklisting by the profession -- can be disbarred or unfrocked.
The original three professions: law, medicine and the clergy...still operate under most of the above, with exceptions. Newer professions, like teaching, dentistry, engineering, follow the same pattern. Crafts, no matter how complex, do not follow this patern; hence an electrician, who has to study the subject and take tests and be an apprentice, and is licensed by the state, is not a professional, no matter how much he knows, while an electrical engineer is a professional.
The terms profession and professional have been loosely applied to a wide range of occupations, even though, strictly speaking they aren't professions. Acting is considered a profession because it requires study and dedication, even though it may not be graduate study (today, it often is), licensing (any fool can try out in a casting call) or fancy letters after your name. The military is considered a profession, even though not all the criteria above may be met. An enlisted man is not a professional . A Sergeant Major or other high-ranking noncom may be considered a professional. A Warrant Officer, though not a commissioned officer, is often thought of a professional. In all, a military professional is a graduate of a service academy, an officer, in for the long haul.
The term "acting professionally" is applied to just about any field of endeavor. An advertising copywriter who hands in a slipshod piece of copy is deemed as "not acting professionally." A news anchorperson who is drunk on camera, ditto.
Question: geometry used in cival engineering, such as building bridges, etc.?
Answer: Leaning tower of Pisa used physics and geometry combined in such a way that a perpendicular from the center if gravity of the tower falls only in the circle described by the base not outside.
Question: Are there any green built or designed bridges or civil engineering structures? We all know about the green housing initiative. But what about green engineering? I'm writing a paper and was wondering whether there were any green bridges, highways, etc. civil engineering structures out there that are built environmentally friendly.
It'd be cool to know, as well. Thanks!
Answer: Check out the Bank of America tower in New York

Question: Americanos, shall we dispatch a Communist-trained engineer to help you build bridges? Your education system is not...how you say?...excellente!
Answer: We don't need any more uneducated illegals destroying our country. Couldn't you commies get a job in your own country?
You think we would want someone from a country who poisons our food, medicine, personal care products, our children's toys and our pet's food to rig our bridges too? Go post on your country's site - or won't they let you?
You have no freedom in your commy country and you want to bring the same to the US? No thank you. We will keep our freedom. We paid a very high price for it.
And we speak English in America where are education is excellent.
Question: Civil/Structural Engineer-Which subjects to study in a UK secondary school for 14 yr old? I want to become a civil/ structural engineer to work with designing/building bridges, highways, dams and building architecture. I'm 14 years old in a UK secondary school and need to choose the relevant subjects as a first step towards this. Which subjects should i choose? Maths, physics, chemistry, resistant materials, design & technology, any other? Thank you. Waiting!
Answer: It doesn't really matter until you choose your A levels but you should ideally choose at A level:
Maths (mechanical variant if possible)
Physics
Another Science - Chemistry/Design/Biology
I did biology as the degree I wanted to study was in Medical Engineering. For Civil probably chemistry would be better.
Most universities would want 3 A level Sciences at about a B or above.
At GCSE do whatever you enjoy as long as you can do the science A levels.
Question: how do civil engineers build bridges? ? what do they have to measure ? etc.
using trigonometry please!
Answer: They go to college for four years to learn how. They learn more than we can say in a simple answer.
Before they start, however, they need to know the length of the bridge and the amount of weight it needs to support (including the traffic and the surface of the road). They also need to know the amount of weight a given piece of steel will safely support without bending or breaking. After that, they design the bridge so that it can support the load, but without using more material than is necessary.
Question: Building Bridges? I have to help my grade 4 son to build a bridge from household waste items. Any Engineers out there ?
Answer: Ag no Ferrari, that will mean I will soon have to build a bridge as well for my grade 4 daughter. Well what you should do it to take a famous bridge like the Vanstadens Bridge here near PE and copy it. Get a lot of ice cream sticks, wire, foamalite even a paper plate cut in half forms two perfect halfmoons .... well I am going to start to eat a lot of ice creams from today to save the sticks.
Question: what engineers/workers are involved in bridge building? what workers ar involved and what are their tasks
I did research and it seemed like the structural engineer is doing most of the work whereas the architects just design and practically leave the picture
Another thing, what is the environmental consultant's job concerning bridge building?
Answer: Architects have a limited role in the design of a bridge. They can however, come up with concepts and colors. The real design is done by the structural engineer.
