Question: How long does it take to become a Political Science teacher? How long does it take to become a Political Science teacher? I would like to teach at a Community College.
Second Question: What is the pay in California?
Answer: This is another one of those "how long" questions that are so difficult to answer. You must have a four year degree. That is first and foremost. As it says, that should take four years, unless you take more courses or less each semester. Then, to teach in a community college, while some schools will accept adjunct teachers with limited education, you most likely will be asked to have a Master's degree in poly sci. This can take a year or more, depending on how many credits you are taking and whether you have to write a thesis or take an exam. Some schools may actually want a doctorate. If you are interested in California colleges, they usually demand more education. So, simply, a minimum of five years to get your Master's in poly sci, and then whatever time extra is required. I don't have any idea about the pay, sorry. You can check on the schools' webs for beginning salaries. They should be public information.
Question: How do I become an Earth Science teacher if I have a BA in an unrelated feild? I have a BA in communication from the University at buffalo. I live on LI and would like to go to an inexpensive school to complete all basic earth science courses I need to as well as the teacher certification classes. I am having difficulty getting some good advice so if anyone in this similar situation can help, please send a reply back right away. Thanks!
Answer: Hi! maybe you should call your local university and ask them because different states require different methods. One big place you can start with is the local school system that you want to teach in. Ask them what you will need and tell them what degree you currently have and ask them what degrees do they hire and what certification are they wanting. Remember check your local university also because they will lead you into the right direction. I am a senior graduating in Spring 2008 and I will have a BA in History but the local school system has changed and they prefer a B.S. in History with teacher certification, My B.A. has no Teacher certification, so next fall I will have no choice but to return and take 30 hours of the Teacher's certification courses along with 6 hours of courses my B.A. did not have. ALL because I listened to the wrong professor. So! You owe it to yourself to check it out, and if you want to teach... go for it!
Oh, check your state's education website because they may offer Nontraditional licensure for those whom already have a degree. Be Aware! if they do... they will require coursework and it is costly, but that depends on your state.
GOOD LUCK! & God Bless!
Question: What were the two chemicals my science teacher used in this experiment? When I was in high school, my science teacher poured one clear liquid into another clear liquid & once the one that was being poured hit the other liquid, it turned blue until the whole container looked deep blue.
Does anyone know what these two liquids were?
I'd love to show this to my niece & nephew.
Answer: Thymolphthalein is a pH indicator that is colorless below a pH of 9.3 but turns dark blue at a pH of 10.5. Mixing a thymolphthalein solution with a solution of a base, such as sodium hydroxide, will yeild a dark blue color.

Question: What would be a good gift for my science teacher from last year? I graduated from junior high this year, and I want to get him something nice. He teaches earth science, and he's by far the best teacher I've ever had, all three years.
Any suggestions?
Answer: Sounds like my last teacher again hmmmmmmmmmm............... maybe a nice version of the periodic table of elements?
Question: What does my science teacher mean by this? I'm doing a science project, and my topic is "which plant will be taller by being fed fruit juice?"
I have two different types of plants.
The teacher asks for the 'experimental groups', the 'independent variable', the 'dependent variable', and the 'control group'
I said the the amount of fruit juice and the type of juice is the dependent variable.
She also says 'the procedure i will follow to test my variable is...'
and it has a and it has 6 bullet points.
Please help me out, because i don't understand this.
Thank you.
Answer: the experimental groups are the groups you are giving something to, in this case, fruit juice. A control group in this case would be a plant that you feed and water normally. The independent variable would be how much fruit juice you give the plants. The dependent variable would be how much the plants grow.
For the procedure part just write in what order you are going to carry out the experiment.
Question: How many years of college will i need to be a science teacher? I want to teach 7th grade science and i live in Wisconsin if that helps. And what is the best college to go to, to become a teacher?
Answer: Living in WI gives u a ton of options and still stay in statw so you don't go broke.
UW Milwaukee is my alma matter and it is a fantastic school right in the heart of the city. More choices of majors than you can shake a stick at too. There are more 4 year universities in WI than any other state. UW has locations in Whitewater, Stevens Point, Oshkosh, Madison, La Crosse, Green Bay, Eau Claire and about 5 other locations I can't think of off the top of my head.
It only takes a bachelors to be a teacher and once you have achieved that, all you need to do is your student teaching and certificate program. So, in all you are looking at 4 1/2 years, barring any complications.
Good Luck!!
Question: What steps do you need to take to become an Earth Science Teacher in Virginia? I am a high school senior and am trying to figure out what I have to do to become an Earth Science Teacher (other than going to college and student teaching). What certification does one need? What other requirements do you need? What is the PRAXIS Test? Do I need to pass the PRAXIS TEST to be certified? Are there any websites that list the steps to becoming an Earth Science Teacher?.....Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Answer: only people who have gone to college and received a teaching degree including doing student teaching can teach, unless you go to an "alternate" school. school run by churches might accept you, but the school would probably not be accredited.
Question: Is it possible to be an Airline pilot and a high school Earth Science teacher at the same time? Is it possible to be an Airline pilot and a high school Earth Science teacher at the same time because I want to be both of those by majoring in aviation and minoring in Earth Science and I wanted to know if it's hard to do.
Answer: I'm not a commercial pilot, but I have friends who are. As an ATP or airline pilot, you are subject to rotating schedules and layovers out of town, especially before you gain any seniority. After a few years working for an airline, you might have enought seniority to set up your schedule such that you could possibly substitute teach during your time off.
As far as the particulars go, I'll leave that to the guys who are ATP's to answer.
Question: Is becoming a science teacher a lucrative career? I'm pursuing a BA in Chemistry with hopes of becoming a science teacher, is this a lucrative and stable feild, or should i consider going into something else?
Answer: Not lucrative but it is a stable field. I would say that a straight Chemistry degree is a good start, but most will want you to take a bunch of education classes before they let you become a fully certified teacher.
