Question: Human Resources? What kind of degree do you need to get into human resources? I am going to a 2 year college and I want to go into human resources. Right now I will be getting a business degree.
Answer: do masters in business management ... in which there are a lot of divisions and majors ... you take HR ... the degree name MBA
Question: How can I start a career in Human Resources, and still make what I’m making right now? I studied Business, I love dealing with people, the more people I get to talk to in a day, the happier I am. I wanted to work in human resources, but they wouldn’t give me a job anywhere because I had no experience. I took a job in Quality Control translating the process manuals. I got so familiarized with everything they made me technical writer, then they made me quality inspector, and now I am a production coordinator. I got promoted so much in 3 years, it made other people with engineering degrees jealous. I’m really good at what I do, but that doesn’t mean I like it. I still want to be in human resources, I’ve gone to many job interviews these past 3 years, but I still have no experience, no one seems to want to give me a job in that area, and now I’m used to making good money to just start working at some low-paying position. How can I get started in human resources, and still make what I’m making right now?
Answer: 1. Speak to the HR team in your own company
2. If you are willing to relocate, look for jobs in other states/countries--maybe they will pay more
Good luck!
Question: Why is human resources important in hospitals/health care? I am reading this book Code Blue by Richard McDermott and it's basically about this hospital that is about it to close down. My teacher asked us as human resources why would we want to save it. I didn't think human resources had anything to do with the closing of a hospital.
Answer: Human = people. Resources = people working.
Human resources has everything to do with a hospital closing.
Question: How to jump start a career in Human Resources in Houston Texas? How to jump start a career in Human Resources in Houston Texas?
I have an MBA in Human Resources and MIS (Management Information Systems), BA in psychology. Only 4 months of experience as an HR admin (temporary assignment) and 2.5 years of experience in QA for a medical device company (just quitted the job because they wanted me to work second shift and decided to stay home with my two year old baby). It has been HARD for me to get a job in HR in Puerto Rico because they all ask for at least 3 years in HR. My husband and I are thinking that we could relocate to Cypress, TX. He is a power plant engineer and I am sure he will find a job but ...Do I stand a chance in Houston Texas or should I quit my interests and stay at home with my two year old? It is NOT easy being a mom and pursue a dream career! Do you think it is the end road for me and I have wasted my time with an MBA? Please advise and be sincere.
Answer: Find a headhunter who specializes in placing MBAs.
Question: How is human resources related to the environment? How can I use human resources to save the environment? what can we do to avoid depletion of natural resources?
Answer: I think you can find your answer in: Renewable resource & Waste management:
A renewable resource is any natural resource that is depleted at a rate slower than the rate at which it regenerates. A resource must have a way of regenerating itself in order to qualify as renewable. Renewable resources include oxygen, fresh water and biomass. Renewable resources may include materials such as wood and leather.
Plastics, gasoline, coal, natural gas and other items produced from fossil fuels are nonrenewable because no mechanisms replenish them. The abiogenic petroleum origin theory may be such a mechanism but petroleum is currently being depleted at a rate far exceeding discoveries of fields which could qualify as abiogenic in origin.
Waste management is the collection, transport, processing or disposal of waste materials, usually ones produced by human activity, in an effort to reduce their effect on human health or local aesthetics or amenity. A subfocus in recent decades has been to reduce waste materials' effect on the natural world and the environment and to recover resources from them.
Question: How do you become a Human Resources professional? I am interested in a career in Human Resources. My ultimate goal is to become an HR Director at a big company. I am trying to do research about it but I don't even know where to start. Can anyone provide a good website with good info? Or tell me what degree I should pursue?
Answer: HR at that level typically requires a Master's Degree. There are many master's programs in the US for HR. The top three, in my opinion are Cornell, University of Illinois at Urbana and University of Minnesota.
Minorities have better opportunities in this field than non-minorities.
Society for Human Resource Professionals - or SHRM might be a good tool for you to research on the internet.
Question: How do I start in Human Resources without experience and a degree in sociology? Almost all the jobs in Human Resources require experience so how do you get a job in HR with no experience in that field when your degree is in sociology? Is it possible? Would you need to take HR classes? I have worked in a bank for four and a half years so would a bank accept you for an HR job?
Answer: Unfortunately HR jobs do require experience now days. There are however several ways to get experience in HR. If you are still in school you can try to get some type of work study. Since you are at the bank you can ask your HR Department if you could volunteer in the HR Department one day a week so that you can get some experience. Last, if a company is desperate enough they will train you.
Good luck
Question: How do I become a human resources manager/personnel if I already have a masters in education? Hi. I already have a BA and MA in education. I was wanting to know what program or degree I would need to go into in order to become a human resources professional. Do I just need a certificate/AA or do I need to do another masters degree? Any help you can give would be great. Thank you!
Answer: Erin - Since you already have a MA in Education, i do not believe you would have to go back for a whole new degree - but it would be helpful to go back and take classes in human resource management. I would also suggest trying an internship or co-op to gain experience and get your foot-in-the-door.
Question: How can I market a human resources and training consulting business for companies with Hispanic Employees? I am starting a human resources/consulting business in the Pacific Northwest, and I want to work with companies with a large Hispanic workforce.
Answer: You would want to join as many hispanic/latino civic organizations as possible, AND, also join the hispanic chamber of commerce and your regular chamber of commerce. You'll need a big box of business cards and a simple website. I'm sure you'll do well, but you gotta get out there and start rubbing elbows with the movers and shakers.
