Question: WebMaster? I am really good at Windows Movies Maker and a few teachers know that. Some have requested that I look into a job about WebMaster. They say I would be reallly great there. But I'm not entirely sure what that is though one has slightly explained it. Can someone five me the details about that. Like where would I work? What would I be doing? How much would I get paid? Is there many people in this job industry? Please answer.

Answer: If you have this talent then you should promote yourself. That is build your own websites and promote them. You can make money from them, sell them and just about everything else. This way you will learn what seo is. Search engine optimization etc. You would work from home working on your website/s tweaking them and enjoying every minute of it.

Question: What does being a webmaster classify in describing what you do for a living? or application? Okay say you were a webmaster, your website makes sufficient income that you dont have to work. Now, if you just had a website but its not an official business.. What would you classify your job description in an application? Webmaster? Self Employed? Self Employed Webmaster? Ok, now say your website is an official business, company bank account etc etc.. would that be considered... Webmaster? self employed? or would it be owner of said company?

Answer: Webmaster manages and maintains one (or more) website(s). A web developer designs and builds the website and then hands it off to the webmaster.

Question: Google Webmaster Tools-How long does it take before I can use them? I just verified my site for Google Webmaster Tools. It has been a week now, and when I try to access information in the Statistics page, (such as top search queries) it tells me that data is not available at this time. My question is how long does it take on average for this data to become available?

Answer: It depends on the nº of visitors to your site. Few visitors, they need some time to gather the necessary data - lots of visitors and data can appear within 24h.

Question: What classes do I need to take to learn to be an effective webmaster? I can already design pretty professional looking sites in Frontpage, but I feel like I should know more. I've been asked to be a webmaster for a site, and I want to know what to do. I should mention the site I've been asked to be webmaster to already exists.

Answer: first off, frontpage is for kids. Just because you can manipulate some software does not make you a designer. No one is a webmaster anymore: years ago, yes it was possible to be truly a master of all that relates to web. You need design theory, design history, art history, and yes, all the basics like PShop, Ilustrator, DW, flash, plus PHP, ASP, Visual basic, SQL, Java, JavaScript, DHTML, and numerous other software competencies. Most important as a designer, is to be able to conceptualize, then translate that to the keyboard jockeys who get 1/3 of what you make. Cynical? well, yeah, but then again, when HTMML 1.0 came out, you had to actually know something (UNIX) to be able to create webpages. People today rely on tools to do the work, but unless you can fix the code for a recalcitrant website after a night of massive martini consumption, you are not really a true webmaster
