Question: what sorts of things does a "web producer" do? I'd like to know what "web producers" do? What kinds of skills do they have to have?
Answer: I would say that the term web producer could mean a number of things and it probably depends on the size of the web site being developed.
With any web development project there are a number of tasks that might need to be done. For smaller sites it might just be one person taking care of everything where as in larger sites you would need a team of developers each with different abilities.
A team might include photographers, graphic designers, system administrators, web programmers, writers, and others depending on the project.
The term producer or developer could be used to describe someone responsible for the overall production of the project or the leader of a specific area of the development. It might also mean someone who does the work of taking content preparing it for the web and putting it online.
This term is quite broad and in order to really figure out what is meant in this situation you need to know the context of the project being developed.

Question: Web producer salaries in NYC? How come the median salaries for experienced web producers in nyc are so low? The range I see is 55K - 70K. Don't most web producers do technical work/development, project management, and be responsible for content on consumer websites. If they do all these and a bag of chips, the salary should be at least over 80K or more.
Answer: It is because these are all negotiated. Some of them are likely working on more than one project.
It really depends on the negotioation of the price.
It could also mean there are side benefits like stock options, paid vacations or even the value of being able to work part time and get close to full time pay.
Question: Questions from a New Web Producer/Designer? Hi,
I'm looking to find out more about new web technologies, software, interactivity, usability, etc. Can anyone recommend the best, major and just plain fun conferences and/or tradeshows that I should attend (within the U.S.)?
(I've already got the Jakob Nielson's Usability Conference on my schedule!)
Also, I've got the basic software - Macromedia Studio (Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, Freehand), Adobe .PDF writer & Photoshop -- Can anyone recommend any additional standard software that no web producer/designer should be without? Feel free to tell me about stuff that's just plain fun, too.
Thanks!
Sammie
Answer: Web Producer and Designer? The major software companies have communities for people in specific fields. This is better because it's more focused.
You can visit Adobe and DreamWeaver. Sun Microsystems have Web Designer communities. Microsoft(Visual Web Designer under .NET) and even more specialized material if you were say an online game maker.
You can also try the search engines for professional communities for Web Designers.
csszengarden.com had designers going their that may point you to better places.
Good Luck.
Question: what is the role of a producer in a food web? im doing an assignment and i need to noe the role of a producer in a food WEB! not food chain.:):)
Answer: It is the primary source of energy that flows in the system, dissipating 90% in each step as heat
Question: Is this a good web media opportunity for a journalism grad? 23, from CT, graduated in '06 with BA in journalism. Wanted to be a music journalist for Rolling Stone, Blender, Spin, Maxim, etc. Work at a paper, not what I wanted to be doing, got job offer to work as a web producer for a different paper's website, but, considering keeping part-time job while going back to school for Masters in Library Science w/ teaching certificate. Anyone have opinions?
Answer: No. 1: Make sure you aren't bound by a contract to your current job.
No. 2: Check with the contract to the other job. Unless the part-time job is something unrelated, like retail, etc., your employment contract at the Web site may prohibit you from working certain jobs - specifically for a competitor.
Question: how can a web content producer establish context for its users?
any tips appreciated thanks
Answer: The software in your computer can transylate all over the world.
Question: With the sucess of web series, could i pitch one to a literary agent in hopes of being the creator or producer
but literary agent, i actually meant one of the agency like WGA, CAA.
Answer: If you want the web series to be a book then yes you could pitch it to a literary agent and you would become the author if it was published.
If you mean it is literary -- not a web video or something like that -- and you want to turn it into a book...you might have a problem because it has already been published on the web. Generally publishers do not publish novels or stories that are already on the Internet. Sorry.
If you mean you want it to be a TV series or movie then a literary agent would not help much. They do sometimes handle movie/TV rights for books they have already sold to publishers but as far as simply a series concept...no.
Some examples of major film and television packaging agencies are: Creative Artists Agency (CAA), The Endeavor Agency, The William Morris Agency, International Creative Management (ICM), Broder/Kurland/Webb/Uffner, Writers and Artists Agency and the Artists Management Group (Mike Ovitz).
Question: Web producers, how do you like your job? I'm gearing my career toward Web producing and hope one or two producers out there could tell me what their jobs are like. Are they enjoyable? Stressful yet enjoyable?
What are the best and worst parts?
Answer: I used to do this in the late 90s & early 00s.
Worst thing- feature creep & clients who suddenly decide that they wanted a massive database driven site (for no extra cost) when you present the simple site they specified & agreed on a price for.
People who didn't understand the technical issues- why colours were not the ones they'd specified on EVERY monitor.
Question: what is the average salary for a Web Executive Producer who is to work for a well known portal (big company)?
Let´s say it is Seattle...
Answer: Where are you working? There will be a massive difference if you are working in Mumbai or NYC.
Question: Can anyone tell me if there is a USA musical comedy web for producers interested in new musicals? Have a couple of original musicals I want to send out to producers, directors, artistic directors...only interested in sending to USA or U.K. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. While I'm here, anybody interested in writing music for original musicals?
Answer: I think most people just send them to theatres that might be interested, or might be a good "fit" for the play. I get about a dozen a month in the mail at the theatre I work at. It's usually a script with a CD of some of (or all of) the songs.
Question: Are roots considered producers in a food web? I am doing a project on biomes today and future biomes. I am doing the australian region and trying to make a food web, but i am having trouble finding producers. Are roots producers?
Answer: No I wouldn't say so. Roots are part of plants, which are producers. Places in a food web can only be occupied by organisms not their constituent parts.
A producer is any organisms that creates it's own enery from raw sources.
Question: what is the role of the producer ans decomposer in a food chain or food web? please help me!!!!
Answer: Food chains are an attempt to see how energy is translated into life styles and populations in an ecosystem.
All energy comes from the sun. The trick is to first capture that energy, and then see how far it can be used by plants, herbivores, carnivores, and decomposers. Eventually, all the sun's energy is given back as heat.
So.... what's the step that captures the energy? It's the "producers". An awkward name as nothing can "produce" energy.... that would violate the laws of thermodynamics. But we are stuck with the name, producers, which are green plants that use photosynthesis to take the light energy and put it into chemical bonds which contain the energy. Eventually, all organisms die, and there has to be a group of organisms, the decomposers (bacteria, vultures, etc.) that get the last remaining energy out of the chain/web and in return cycle the nutrients back into the food chain. Pretty simple, yes?, if you just remember the energy flow in the system.
Question: I need to find the properties and additives of a cement produced by a cement producer? I need to find the properties and additives of a cement produced by a cement producer on their web page or from a catalog. This needs to come from an on-line source. Any ideas? Thanks!
Answer: Portland Cement
Cement Composition. The composition of portland cements is what distinguishes one type of cement from another. ASTM C 150 and AASHTO M 85 present the standard chemical requirements for each type. The phase compositions in portland cement are denoted by ASTM as tricalcium silicate (C3S), dicalcium silicate (C2S), tricalcium aluminate (C3A), and tetracalcium aluminoferrite (C4AF). However, it should be noted that these compositions would occur at a phase equilibrium of all components in the mix and do not reflect effects of burn temperatures, quenching, oxygen availability, and other real-world kiln conditions. The actual components are often complex chemical crystalline and amorphous structures, denoted by cement chemists as "elite" (C3S), "belite" (C2S), and various forms of aluminates. The behavior of each type of cement depends on the content of these components. Characterization of these compounds, their hydration, and their influence on the behavior of cements are presented in full detail in many texts. Some of the most complete references dealing with the chemistry of cement include those written by Bogue (1955), Taylor (1964), and Lea (1970). Different analytical techniques such as x-ray diffraction and analytical electron microscopy are used by researchers in order to understand fully the reaction of cement with water (hydration process) and to improve its properties.

Question: Are the food web levels, producer, primary consumer, secondary consumer? A source would be nice too.?
Answer: Yes and don't forget tertiary consumers and decomposers.
An example of a food chain within a food web would be:
producer - grass
primary consumer - grasshopper (herbivore)
secondary consumer - small bird (omnivore)
tertiary consumer - large bird (hawk) (carnivore)
decomposer - fungus such as mushroom; bacteria are also powerful decomposers
I provided a useful website. Good luck!
