How will you except payment if a shopping cart is used? Does it need updating daily, weekly or monthly? Can you do the updating yourself. The pricing is all over the board. Most should have samples of their work on line. A real cheap and pretty good deal is to go to a local college or trade school. Many students will put one together for you at a very reasonable price.

Question: How lucrative is a web designer position? I have made professional websites in the past, and I really enjoy it. I'm considering going into the field. But before I do, I'd like to know if I can support myself on a web designer's salary. What is the job like, and generally what do you make?

Answer: You can make a pretty decent living. Of course this is assuming that you have a degree and/or substantial work experience with seasoned portfolio. It will also help to be able dabble into a programming language. (ASP/ColdFusion, etc.) You won' t start making really good salaries until at least 5 years exp. Pay also depends on self-confidence and applying for jobs that pay nice salaries and have other benefits (401K, etc.) that may require more intense work instread of settling for a startup company where the pay is low. Answer: hmmm, this question kind of goes in many different ways but I will try to answer what I think you're asking. To be a web designer you need to be a creative person that is smart enough to be able to work with technical tools and produce visually appealing websites. If you are not working with a company you should have some entreprenuerial skills and be able to negotiate costs and not undersell your services. It helps if you are a child of web 2.0 as this is the way the world is going. So really you have to be skilled in both science (the art of manipulating technical code to output a desired result) and commerce (the ability to create solutions good enough to make money for you or your company) I think if you are mostly creative, you should go the creative route. If you are more business minded, you should go the commerce route. If you are both and driven you should be very successful in about 10 years.

Question: How do you start a revolutionary online business without being a web designer? So, I have a great idea for an online business, but I a not a web designer. Do I go to a web designer to launch my business? What if he takes my idea and makes his own website? Can I trust him? Please help!!

Answer: Well, I am a bit biased but I will say that depends on what your business is? Do you need an ecommerce web site? Just a single product? Have you researched the market? There is a lot that goes into this...It really depends on what you have an your market..this is very broad... I would recommend you set up a Blog and begin that way...Tomorrows websites are here and they are blogs...Check out below about where to build a blog that takes away all the technical stuff and lets you focus on content and your product. It is really the only place, if I had know 5 years ago where to go that I would have gone,... I know a community that is very very helpful and trustworthy.

Answer: you should give it your password then after the work finished change it and don't worry most designer/developer are trusted and will not still any personnel info from you :)

Question: How to select a web designer with good eyes? I receive some resumes for a web designer position. Some people have impressive portfolio but those seem to be work of a group of people in an agency. Several times I hire someone and it turns out he/she does not have the skills and eyes the his portfolio presents. How to find someone to make sure she/he has the eyes and tastes and can design something that I want? Can I give him a test or ask him to provide a mockup? The problem is many people are not willing to provide a mockup.

Answer: If they are not willing to provide a mock-up, ask them what their exact contributions were to a particular site, and then ask for contact information for other people in the group to verify they actually did what parts they are telling you. This is why I make all my own websites myself. :-)
