Question: What is it like to work as a technical support associate for Google? I'm thinking of applying for job in google as a technical support associate, I've heard a lot of good stuff in having a career in google and how different they are from most corporate work place. What is it like to work as a TSA there? How is the working environment in google?
Answer: It's the best place in the world to work. Your chances of getting a job here are very slim. google gets thousands of resumes everyday from people such as yourself. Question: Does MCA fresher with linux certification start out as technical support? I am doing MCA and plan to complete Red Hat Linux certification (RHCE) and CCNA. After completing my MCA will I have to start out as technical support engineer/service engineer/desktop engineer? Isn't there a chance that I will languish in these roles as these aren't high profile roles.
Answer: Certs are great, but experience is what really impresses an interviewer. If you have very little or no work experience, you are likely to start out in some sort of support role.
This actually makes sense for the employer. Why would they let you make design decisions before you've proven yourself? It's especially important to them, considering you aren't familiar with their network.
Don't worry about it, though. If you're eager to learn and willing to take on responsibility, you will be noticed. Bosses do pay attention to who does what, although they also have to balance the personality of their team members. If the new young hot-shot gets promoted within a week of joining the company, or is hired into a very cherry position, it could easily anger the rest of the team that has been there for years. For that reason, sometimes the new hire is forced to spend some time in a more junior role. This lets the team see what he's capable of.

Question: what are the possible questions during an interview for technical support executive post ? i going to attend an interview for technical support executive opening .
can u suggest some sites where i can find information regarding computer hardware and networking.
Answer: I work as a TSR. (Technical Support Rep) It really depends what kinda tech support your gonna be doing.
If your going to be doing Internet be sure you can answer the basics like what does tcp/ip stand for, what the protocols for pop email clients are. How do you do an ipconfig on XP and on 98. (they are different) What is DHCP, what is DNS. How do statically assign an IP or unassign a static IP in 98, XP and Vista, etc. Those were some of the questions asked of me during the interview. You also may want to learn your basic ports, like port 80, 8080, 23, 21, 45, 995, etc. It also doesn't hurt.
If your going for hardware I'd make sure you know your basic A+ like how many pins are on what what connectors like monitor cables, mice and keyboard cables etc. The difference between usb and firewire, what RAM stands for, how many bits to a byte, what is static electricity and how do you keep from shocking cards or boards.
it also does not hurt to know about the company your interviewing with, tell them a little bit about their product or history to show genuine interest beyond a paycheck and just wanting a job.
In one interview a friend of mine took he had to assemble a computer out of parts laying on a table. I would think that is rather rare for an interview but you never know.
Question: what should i major in college to be technical support? i want to be a technical support person, like at dell or wherever. what should i major in college?

Question: Is being in technical support a really bad choice for women? I have got a job in technical support for a leading MNC. The profile involves talking to customers abroad and troubleshooting and solving their computer problems via the telephone. Is this a good thing to do for me as I am a female and it might involve working at hours of the night. Also what's the job progression like in this field??
Also I have a Masters in International Business, would I be able to use this in this field at any point of time??
Answer: I've always been pretty ambitious, and the best advice a boss once gave me is this: the reason they put steps on a ladder is because you can't get to the top in one go.
Any job is what you make it to a certain extent. Think glass half-full, not half-empty - if this is a male-dominated area, doesn't being female give you a point of difference you can harness to stand out? I wouldn't immediately think this is a disadvantage.
I've run a number of call centres over the years. I've found there are two basic types of people: those who are there to stay, and those who are there to leave. You sound like the latter. That is, you'll want to find opportunity to go do something else and you're using this role to prove yourself to people who can help that.
The fact you're in an MNC gives you opportunity. Focus on doing your job exceptionally well. Ask questions about how you're assessed, what the benchmarks are, and think about what you can do to beat them so you stand out to people who can help you advance.
Don't worry about your Masters right now. That'll be useful in time with business experience under your belt. And once you're a couple of rungs up the ladder, you'll have a different perspective - seeing how you can jump to a different ladder heading perhaps in a far more exciting direction.
Question: Have you ever called technical support and pretended you were a celebrity? you know, you call up technical support and your like... "Hey... this is Keanu Reeves... yeah, you'd think i'd be able to hook up my wireless network, but well, between turning down all the scripts i get and going to all those posh celebrity events i don't ever have the time to read the manual... Modem?!. what the heck does that mean?.."
Answer: Keanu Reeves? Is he related to Christopher Reeves? Wait, huh? What are you thinking of? Keanu? I think you mean the King. That is Elvis and nobody messes with Elvis and gets away with it. That is what you meant tho? Right? I think I forget what I was going to think about right there. Never mind.
