Question: if a site you plan to builid on has heavy contamination of patrol &oil & diesel which are on the ground? what are the field tests at lest two that could we do to identify the structure of the sub-soil and contamination and how the remediation would be completed to meet the local authority requirments. and what are the laboratory tests to determine the structure uf the sub-soil ?
Answer: Surface sample tell only part of the story. A drill rig is usually brought in to obtain split spoon samples. Basically a core of dirt 5ft in lenght from various depths.
Samples of soil are taken and can be field screened for volatile organic compounds using a photo ionization detector (PID).
This type of testing is way beyond a DIY job and would require an environmental engineering company & lab to do the work and analysis.
If contamination is large enough not only would large quantities of dirt have to be removed but a ground water /soil treatment system may have to be installed.
Question: How can I contact Remediation and Liability Management Company in Pontiac, Michigan, about work there? If they have a Web site, that would be great, but I can't find one for them.
I have their general telephone and address. I need to know who to contact there, specifically, about employment. A Web site would probably have the information I need, such as an email address.
Answer: I would do a search under Oakland County.
