Question: About project planning managment? I applied for human resource managment or Project planning managment and was given PPM, I want to know the beauty of the course.

Here's to a long and fruitful career.
Question: I am looking for a basic short term Project planning tool. Does any one have on that works for them? I am working on a research project for my company so I can learn how to facilitate the information I learned. How do I set up a project plan I can give to my mgr for updates?
Answer: Have you tried Microsoft Project? It's kind of cumbersome, and might be more than you need, but you might be able to use just the features that apply to you.
It really is a good program once you get the hang of it - if your project gets bigger, you won't have any problem managing all the aspects with this one.
If you are asking how to set up a project plan - you might want to read a book on project management. There are several on Amazon.com
Cheers!

Question: Need Help with Planning a Project/Task Plan? Okay so here is the situation that I need help with. You start a new job. The employer says they divided your work by the percentage of time you should spend working on a task over the next 30 days.
Project A = 50% of the time
Project B = 25% of the time
Project C = 15% of the time
Project D = 10% of the time
My question is how you would go about planning this out over the next 30 days? Does the 50% of the time mean 50% of 30 days? Or, is this 50% of your time each day for 30 days? I'm looking for some project planning advice on how to manage this time. Thanks in advance.
Answer: I would say those percentages are for the overall time spent in 30 days. You can't really divide up your daily time that neatly if you are doing anything other than terribly routine and predictable tasks. That's not the nature of project planning. Flexibility is the key. And in fact, I'm sure the boss is just trying to tell you some guidelines, which he will not expect to be documented or complied with precisely. He just wants you to know his priorities.
Question: What legend, fable or story describes a project started with arrogance and no proper planning w/bad results? Anything from a simple childhood story to an historical example is OK as it long as it makes the point that if a person or persons begin a large project without proper planning, the results can be disastrous.
Answer: The Iraq war!
Question: What's are some great (preferably FREE) project planning/managment tools? First off, I've heard of 37signals offerings, but their monthly charges are too steep for my small business.
Are there any comparable competitors? Or other cool web-based products out there?
I'm kind of at a loss and currently considering surrendering to an Excel spreadsheet FTPed to a shared place for the staff. :(
Please help!
Bonus coolness for:
- Open source
- Customizable
- Multiple users
- Ability to handle multiple projects
- Ability to handle deadlines/dates
Answer: It appears that the question period has expired. If you have received an answer that meets your needs, please choose one of those as a 'best answer.' If you haven't received a good answer for your question, you may want to consider the following,
1) Re-post your question. Newer questions get more activity on Yahoo! Answers than old ones.
2) If you do re-post your question, consider why it wasn't answered the first time. Could it be more specific? Could it be worded better? Were there grammatical or spelling errors? Was it in the best category?
If it doesn't seem likely that re-posting your question will help you, then here's a listing of my favorite 'answer sites'. Maybe one of them will help you.
