Question: a block has a volume of 1.4 cubic meters and weighs 700kg. how much of the block will be submerged in water? please show me how you get the answer, I am writing my journeyman steamfitter exam tomorrow, so anything extra you have that could help me with that would be great also!
Answer: Half of it. It weighs half as much as water, which has a density of 1000 kg per cubic metre, so 1.4 cubic metres of water weighs 1400 kg.
Question: Sounds like Columbia Generating station is expanding with a third coal fired unit anyone else here that? I am in favor of it because it gives me a chance to get into the steamfitters union.

Question: How the hec does Joe the plumber make $250k a year? When he is unlicensed?
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the mean annual wage for plumbers, pipefitters and steamfitters in the United States in 2007 was $47,350.

Hey what does the "d" stand for? "dick"?
Answer: lol....McCain
and his cronies are pathetic
Question: Is it true trade unions sometimes don't accept applicants because they're not young enough? I'm 30 and would like to try my hand in plumbing. A guy who works for the local community college here, said a long time ago, he applied to get into the UA apprenticeship program as a steamfitter, but they weren't accepting applicants over 26. Kinda sounded like the guy was just trying to get my tuition money, but I was wondering if anyone's ever heard of something like that happening.
Answer: No, haven't heard that. Go for it. Journeyman Wireman 17 yrs. good luck..
Question: Darren Mcfadden - does he belong to Pipelayers union? 2 part question:
1) does he belong to the steamfitters union in Arkansas, given all the pipe he's been laying lately?
2) how long will it take him to break Travis Henry's NFL record for most illegitimate children with most different women?
Answer: I think if we keep putting McFadden in the spotlight as much as we have been, we might be able to curb his, um, "tendencies." Just look at what media exposure did to Reggie Bush; every girl he goes near gets on national TV for it. If all those girls started ending up pregnant, Reggie would be seriously in trouble, so maybe paying close attention to McFadden's actions would help out his, er, "situation."
Question: Sample Math Test for Plumbers and Steamfitters Apprenticeship? I am going over the Sample Math test for the Plumbers and Steamfitters Apprenticeship. My b/f is going to take the real test in about a week. We found this sample test and I thought just to be safe I should go through and do it myself. I got to thinking, although I am generally accurate and skilled in math, it might help if anyone out there would be willing to go through the test as well so I can double check my answers and check my formulas or procedures against someone else's if I get any wrong. I need to make sure I am doing the problems right if I am going to be able to help my b/f with a quick refresher.
I know doing and posting all 50 might be a pain so it would be fine to post answers only. If I run into any discrepancies I will be sure to ask for help/explanations!
Here's the link for the test! Thanx so much to anyone who helps out with this one!
http://www.486school.com/samplemathtest.pdf
Please skip questions 1 - 10, 32 - 40, and 49 & 50.
Ty for everyone who has answered. I only have a problem with 3 of the questions, #30, 43 pt2, and 45. If someone could write out the steps so I can see what I've done wrong that would be helpful.
Again thanx!
Answer: Seriously - that's too much to ask in a single question.
Many of the questions can simply be performed on a calculator.
Okay, in the interest of being nice, here's a bunch set up for you with a few answers.
13 = 29.12 * 39.5
14 = 3.28 * 30
15 = 42 / .6
16 = 45 * 18
17 = 46.2 / 2.31
18 = 24 * 2 * 3.14 (pi~=3.14)
19 = 24*24*3.14
20 = 25
21 = 45 deg
22 = x = 10
23 = a 100 b 46
32-35 = calculator
36-40 = calculator and round
41 = 25% 46%
42 = .35 2.25
43 = 62.5 .75
44 = 80% 4%
45 = 38925 * .0525
46 = 176 degF
47 = 12
48 = 25/(6.25-3.75)
---
30
32 divided by 3/8
That's 32 * 8/3, or 256/3, or 85 1/3
43 pt 2
Oh, that's 0.25% of 300, alright, updated my answer, misplaced the decimal point
.0025 * 300 = .75
45
5 1/2 percent interest = .055
So 38925 * .055 = $2140.88 (rounded up from 2140.875)

Answer: It sounds fine... I would just make sure to format it all so it looks nice to the eye. Include the same information for each job, and I wouldn't add what your salary was in that one job. If they ask, which they probably wont, then tell them. If not, just omit that information. If they ask for salary expectations, you might give them a ballpark answer, but no specifics.
Question: Defamation of Character/What else lawsuit? Advice? My father does not want to sue, but we have a situation. He is a union employee (plumber & Steamfitter), that worked for a power plant for years through the union hall. He was working at the pwer plant and asked his supervisor what they did with the scrap metal. His supervisor told him to take it, and gave him a pass for it. He didn't have a truck, so some other guys brought it to him. The police came and arrested him for theft, having stolen property, etc. After 8K law bills, they finally dropped all charges. His life was ruined, he can't find work now. 7 other men that were on tape (not even my father) were never let go and are still working. His name was thrown about in all the papers, and now no one will hire him through the hall even though all charges were officially dropped.
Is this legal? They had depositions from supervisors and co-workers that my father did not take the items. They have signed receipts showing he donated the proceeds from the metal to his church
Is this discrimination? he's the oldest of the bunch, and yet he was the only one let go from the plant, even though others admitted they are the ones that actually took the items. My father is very involved in his catholic church, and made clear that all money would be donated to church and needy organizations.
He's destroyed, people still think he's a thief and now he cannot find work...no one will hire him because the story was all over the newspapers.
Even though charges were dropped, the union still has banned him from working. Is this normal? He's a good, decent, giving man and was totally shocked when state police were on his doorstep. The prosecutor told us he had absolutely no case at all, especially with the depositions of others.
Is there any suit in this matter at all? there are many more details, but not enough space here!
Thank you very much, yes...he had written permission in the form of what they call a "scrap pass" from HIS supervisor, and although he is a union employee, HIS supervisor was an employee of the power plant. My father was the only one brought up on charges, and the only one let go out of 9 total men. The supervisor kept his job, as did the men that actually took the metal from the plant, even though they admitted in depositions that they are the ones that actually took it off the property.
I find that part of it discrimination, that as the oldest, he was the one charged and fired...while all others continue to work there to this day.
I also find it defamation of character that they literally black listed him with the union, even though he had written permission to take the items and charges were dropped.
The plants response to the written permission was they the owner didn't give him permission, so it didn't matter what his supervisor did.
Answer: Unfortunately I did not see if he had written permission because if it is not documented, he can legally be fired for stealing even though it was garbage.
I he had written permission he would had been able to sue.
My teacher, RL Pritchard PhD and JD, at Los Angeles Valley College in Van Nuys California 91401-4096 states that most amendments of the US Constitution does not apply to the private sector and that people have more criminal rights than employment protections.
He will have a hard time finding a job since he was terminated and designated Not Rehirable and possibly if he is over 50 years old. Age Discrimination is alive but subtle.
I too was fired and labeled Not Rehirable which is a form of black listed or Black Balled. It took me 4 months to find a job and I am 42 years old.
I was almost fired for taking a empty box for mailing envelope.
At-Will Employment contracts are dangerous.

Dr RL Pritchard at Los Angeles Valley College states that the US Constitution rarely apply to the US Private Sector and that is why many in power want to privatize everything from Education to the US Military. the USS Camden (AOE-2) http://www.navybuddies.com/ships/aoe2.htm has been privatized.
With privatization the wealth does not get shared and only few get wealthy and that is why Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich are unpopular in the EVIL Corporate World.

Question: I thought Journeyman trades made a lot of money? I always hear about how so and so makes 30, 40, 50 an hour as a journeyman or whatever, how come when I look up "electrical journeyman salary" it says average is like 40k? Steamfitters it said like 36k, it doesn't match up, so how much do they really make? I thought like at least 60 k or so.
Here's an example
http://www.indeed.com/salary?q1=electrical+journeyman&l1=Quinton%2C+VA
http://www.indeed.com/salary?q1=plumber+journeyman&l1=
uh well as I read it you have to have 5 yrs experience just to be a journeyman....and that was the average of all journeymen, experienced or not
Answer: you have chosen a poor place to look for accurate information

Question: Joe the Plumber is Not A Plumber? Joe Wurzelbacher said he works under Al Newell’s license, but according to Ohio building regulations, he must maintain his own license to do plumbing work.
He is also not registered to operate as a plumber in Ohio, which means he’s not a plumber. Mr. Wurzelbacher’s notoriety has raised the ire of Tom Joseph, business manager for Local 50 of the United Association of Plumbers, Steamfitters, and Service Mechanics, who claimed that Mr. Wurzelbacher didn’t undergo any apprenticeship training.
"When you have guys going out there with no training whatsoever, it’s a little disreputable to start with," Mr. Joseph said.
"We are the real Joe the Plumber."
The association has endorsed Barack Obama, according to Mr. Joseph.

The question is obvious you crybabies. "im gonna report you snifff snifff!"
If Pandering John tries to use Joe the fake 'plumber', might the Keating Scandal be back in the headlines? Ouch.
Answer: Very interesting- I guess "Joe" wasn't properly vetted
Question: anyone know of any mtb trails in or near terre haute indiana? i may already know the answer (probably none) but i just want to be thorough and ask. i know there used to be on past state road 46 called trail 157 owned by the plumbers and steamfitters union, but its been closed for years to my knowledge. i also know that there is the national road heritage trail... but i want to go off road. preferably without risking getting shot by some paranoid farmer or arrested for trespassing, hence why im asking for marked trails. any input will be appreciated. maybe someone out there knows of one i messed. thanks ahead of time
Answer: Bikers are being cornered every where and there are less and less places to ride. Check with your local bike shop they can help you find some of the few we had left. We have some at the shop i work at in Ohio. It is kinda protecal to have maps for trails.
