Question: Who is the idiot that is managing the road construction project downtown? Downtown, there seems to be a road reconstruction project going on, but it looks like the construction people don't know what the hell they are doing. They tore up half side of the road and yet don't place cones out to keep drivers from driving over the badly damaged road. What the hell are they thinking? Why aren't they blocking off that part of the road? What can I do about it? Is there some place where I can file a enraged complaint on those people? I drive through downtown every night and I kept having to driving over all those really really rough streets. How can I find out the retard that is managing that construction project and find him and give him an a$s kicking?
Answer: Yea, they are all idiots.
Question: What are the basic steps involved in a road construction project? What are the procedures, the materials and the guidelines needed to carry out a road construction?
Answer: 1) determine the requirements for the road.
2) claim the ground where the road is supposed to be. This can take years ten years or more !
3) contract companies that can construct the road.
4) etc..
Question: Is it possible to have illegal aliens doing road construction for government? or doing work that you might normally associate with being done by regular american citizens or legal residents...like delivery truck drivers? I see a lot of signs that this might be going on, but of course, I have no proof. But theoretically speaking, once the illegal gets his false social security number, and states drivers license, he can literally apply for any job that does not require him to communicate with customers. A furniture delivery truck crew of 3 workers may have one person who speaks some english but the other 2 need not speak it at all, and certainly a road construction crew needs no english skills at all.
Answer: Probably working for a contractor doing work for the state.
Wee it here all the time. Kentucky is doing repairs to a local bridge. They contracted it out to a private firm. I drive across it everyday and half the people I see working ar Hispanics. I can't believe they're all legal.
Question: Where can I go on the web to find out gas prices and road construction for a road trip? I need to find a website (or sites) where I can find out the price of gas and where any road construction might be for a road trip.
Answer: You can find gas prices on Gas Buddy:
http://www.gasbuddy.com/
For road construction try Yahoo! Maps:
http://maps.yahoo.com/beta/index.php
Click on the "Live Traffic" check box near the top of the map. It usually shows where road construction is happening.
Question: What is the purpose of the long roles, of what looks like hay, along road side construction sites? I keep seeing these things where they are doing road construction. I was assuming it was to reduce ground erosion at the site, but that was only an assumption.
Answer: Actually It's a EPA requirement to keep any topsoil from entering
the storm sewer in case of heavy rains.
When the site is under construction allot of bare dirt is exposed and can be quickly washed into the storm sewer system.
You also see Black fabric fences built that are about two feet
high and are buried into the ground.
They are called silt fences.
Stiff fines can come from the EPA to the contractor if they do
not take the proper measures for erosion control.

Question: Hit a raised water main cap during road construction, now my car makes loud rattling over bumps? I hit a raised water main cap, the road was grooved and lowered for construction. Since then my car rattles at every bump, in the back. Also, if I push the drivers side of my car down it squeeks. What is the problem, is it driveable for the next couple days?
Answer: who knows maybe have you look to see if anything is hanging down or if the wheels look like they are not leanning over id bet you busted a strut or shock
Question: What are the Australian standard for excavation/placement of AG pipes in road construction? I've done a search through Standards Australia and can't find which Standard defines trench construction, placement of pipe and backfilling of screenings/aggregates specifically for road construction.
Answer: I can probably help with the American standards.
Question: Is ALL of Florida under road construction? And how many license plates do you have? Me and my wife just traveled to the Keys (LOVED it) but I have to ask. It seems your entire state (south florida at least) is under road construction. It didn't end in Miami, no. There was even road construction in the Keys. All over the keys.
The second question is, have you had problems coming up with a standard license plate design? I had to have seen at least 30 different Florida license plates. What gives?
Answer: There's always some major hwy in Florida under construction. In the keys it's not surprising with the hurricanes that come through. Many forget Katrina came across southern FL even though it was only a cat.1, not near as powerful as what hit New Orleans, but still capable of doing major damage. The same year there was also Wilma that came across southern FL, once again not to powerful but still capable of causing major damage. I believe there's more that has came across so. FL within the past few years as well that helped aide in the damage.
hehehe - FL has about 124 different speciality plates-not including special order plates or the regular plates, so you've only seen a portion of them ;) They are divided up into enviromental; misc. such as american red cross, boy scouts, stop child abuse, armed services, etc; FL professional sports teams and FL universities. The enviromental and misc. plate fees are given to oraganizations throughout the state. The professional sports plate fees are divided 55% Professional Sports Development Trust Fund and 45% Florida Sports Foundation. The university plate fees are given to that university.
Question: If my tire goes flat from road construction, will the county pay for the repairs? I was on my NEW Yamaha R6 the other day and had to drive over some road that was under construction. I took my time and made sure I missed everything visible. My bike felt a little different about an hour later and to my surprise I had a very tiny leak in the back tire. I know this doesn't usually happen on an open freeway...My question is will the county pay for my new tire and the 90/hr to put it back on?!?
Answer: The county is not going to pay for the damage. There is no way to prove that it happened at the construction site, and there is also no way to prove that the construction cause the flat. You could have hit something in a parking lot or on any road.
By driving, or riding, you assume the risk.
Sorry

It seems this time of year alot of road construction is going on and as I drive past these projects, there's 1 guy working and 2-3 guys standing around near the working guy or looking over his shoulder. What are they getting paid for?
Answer: those 2-3 standing around are bosses and do not need to work<
Question: Is there one site that reports on Interstate road construction nationwide? I want to take a trip from Pennsylvania to Utah and was hoping to avoid having to check on road construction state-by-state. I could go either I-80 or I-70 - the distance is very close. The deciding factor is the level of road construction en route. Would appreciate some help!
Answer: here this is for Pennsylvania all u have to do is change the (pa) on the link below to the other state that u are going thru e g, (NY,TX)

Question: What are laws about road construction noise in the middle of the night in Ohio? My sister moved into an apartment with construction happening on the road outside and can't sleep at night. They work until 2 or 3 in the morning.
Answer: I take it they are the same as everywhere else!
In my country, when something like that occurs, we either call in the cops (disturbing public peace), or the Mayor's Office.
Both of them DO work!
Question: How is Cold Mix Asphalt Concrete produced and placed in road construction in tropical Africa? I am involved in a project that is using Cold Mix Asphalt Concrete for the construction of some Arterial Roads. What i really want to know is how effective it can be used for this project and the benefits it has over Hot Mix Asphalt Concrete(HMAC).
Answer: Cold mix asphalt is produced by mixing bitumen emulsion or cutback with cold aggregates, sometimes also with addition of anti-stripping agents.
Cold mix asphalt it has been used in the past as temporary patching material or if hot mix asphalt is not available. But there are have been a number of researches for improving quality of cold mix.
The benefits they have over hot mix is that they can be used at low temperatures and they can be stockpiles for six months or so after production.
There are lot of things about cold mixes: for more information send me email at annam@sun.ac.za I'm doing research on cold mixes,
Question: Why does road construction take so long? Does it really take 6 months to repave a road? Usually the road just sits closed with no one working on it for weeks! Why does it take so long?
Answer: Depends upon on the road and who is doing the work. Some roads are repaired by local road crews. When that happens the repairs are usually small and are completed fairly quickly.
For larger jobs contracts are used to hire contsruction contractors. The contracts will typically have a time limit for completing the work. If the contractor can make more money by completing another job ahead of another he has already started, the crews go to the second project,as along as the first is completed on time.
This scenario is only of of several common scenarios for having a construction project, like a street, drag on for longer than is should.
Question: Reusing plastic bags and car tyres in road construction ? I read sometime back that plastic bags and car tyres can be re-used in road construction which actually make the roads stronger and last longer. Does anyone have more information on this, or actually worked on this.
Answer: I haven't seen that but it sounds like a great idea .You can also mix waist Styrofoams with concrete its strong and works great as an insulator The problem is nobody wants to change and adapt new ideas .To much greed in the world .The only way people are going to change is by force or a major catastrophe is going to have to happen
