Question: Do you tip painter who paint both inside and outside of your home? If you do give tip to your painter, how much should you give tip? We have two painters who are painting our house on the outside and they are doing wonderful job. I was wondering what I can show them gratitude beside what they are getting paid for. I would like to thank you all for your answers. Some of you have great ideas, so I decided to let the voter decide.

Answer: As a contractor, they expect to be paid the amount that they bid or estimated the job for. Just pay the bill on time and express how happy you are with the work, offer to be a reference for future customers. Also recommend them to friends and family for more work.

Question: What photo painter software would you suggest? I am a "Sunday Oil Painter" beyond a beginner stage. I would like to work with transfering photos to my computer & then using oil painting computer technique to color. What software program would you recommend & why? How does a Wacom or similar box or tray apparatus fit into this. Which one do you recommend?

Answer: A simple solution - ask a professional painter who actually lives in Sydney.

Question: Does it matter if you use a cheap digital painter against expensive digital painters? I was planning to buy Corel Painter 11 but I'd like to know whether painting with this program will make my work look better than when I paint in a cheaper program. I am not a beginner painter and I am not professional. I have previously painted in cheaper programs for a while now.

Answer: Depends on what you want to do, and your current skill level. If you are just learning to paint, it is probably overkill. You can learn the basics on a cheaper program like PaintShop Pro. If you are already doing serious work, Corel can ramp up your skill level because it has more features.

Question: How do you paint in Corel Painter Essentials without going over the lines? I just got a wacom bamboo fun, and I want to color a picture to post on deviantart. But whenever I try to color a picture on Corel Painter Essentials that came with it, i foes over the lines and you can't see them! How to I stop that from happening? I think it has something to do with layers, but I can't figure out how to make them work. 10 points to the best answer!

Answer: Check your options usually under tools or files and set a frame inside your page, or just click on help in the box and you'll find many more answers .

Question: How should I go about choosing a painter to paint my fiberglass door and trim? I had an entry door installed and tried painting it myself and really messed it up in places. This door is a fiberglass door and I really want it to look nice so I am going to hire a painter. One of the painters said instead of sanding the door he would use a chemical that would take the paint off and then he would prime the door for painting before painting it again. Another painter said he would sand the door as much as possible and if I wanted him to, he would take the door off the hinges and spray paint it. Which would be the best way to go?? I have already gotten two estimates and both have been in the same ball park so I am just curious as to what this chemical is versus sanding it. And will the door look better painted the usual way or have it taken off the hinges and spray paint it?? Oh yeah one more thing, these doors were supposed to be already primed but the acrylic latex that I used can be peeled off in places so I am wondering if it was really primed at all.

Answer: Hey hookie dookie, sand the door so you get the brush marks out, I wouldn't use a chemical of any kind to strip that door and the painter that said he'd take it off and spray that's the guy for you. You don't need to sand that door down to scratch just the imperfections you made buy painting it in the direct sun light, any of these fiberglass & steel doors you have to put a drying retardent in your paint like "Flotrol" so it doesn't dry too fast . Question: How long does it take for a painter to paint the inside of my house? I just bought a new house and want to have a professional painter re-paint all of the interior rooms. He says he chargers $25 per hour. How many hours will it take him to paint approximately 2000 square feet of wall space?

Answer: That is impossible to anwser from our perspective. We don't know how many rooms the house has! Normally a 2000 ft house could take at least a week and maybe longer depending on if the is empty and how many colors you wish to paint each room. How many repairs are necessary. You shouldn't let someone give you a bid like that. They should be bidding the job has a whole not by the hour. Your setting yourself up to get taken to the cleaners if you allow him to do the job this way. Have him bid the whole job including paint and all supplies. That way you can judge each painters bid by a set dollar amount not by a estimate of time.

Question: How much should it cost to hire a painter for 3 bedrooms? We are looking to hire a painter to do our 3 upstairs bedrooms, since we have another baby on the way. We are also at the same building another bedroom in our home for our oldest to move into, and we just don't have the time to paint the current rooms on our own. Were wondering about what the average price should be to hire someone. The rooms are not huge, all average size, with the largest being maybe 11x12, if even that, the smallest is 10x11. We are getting estimates, but they vary so much, the two we have currently are $300.00 difference, the lower bid even included ceilings, which I don't even want done. Any advice is welcome! We live in a suburb of Buffalo, NY if that helps any.

Question: How do I inspire my painter in Artist Colony? I am trying to inspire my painter to 95% in Artist Colony, but I don't know how. I have been dragging the painter to the pretty pink magical flower for ages and nothing. I don't even know how to tell what percent inspired they are. Help please!

Question: How much does it cost to have a professional painter do a room or two? Our new house has vaulted ceilings in the kitchen and living room. We could probably paint all walls but the two walls that go all the way up. Also, the stairwell has high walls. I have NO clue what it costs to hire a painter. Anyone have a ballpark?

Answer: $29.53 per hour is the national hourly rate for a painter. Now this is what I charge per man hour as a contractor. Question: What is the most important thing to help with being a successful painter? I'm a fairly talented artist and im just starting to paint allot with water color paints. Is there any advice that you can give me that I can use to become a better painter or more successful?

Answer: What worked for me. A lot of hard work, years of painting and drawing constantly, honing my image and meeting people. But the most important thing was to find a mentor/ master painter that taught me how to do it. I went to one of the best schools and it did not help as much as learning from a master. It can not be learned from a book or tape because it is not one thing that you have to learn but many. I read somewhere that to create a masterpiece an artist has to make about 700 decisions.

Question: What would cause paint to come off the walls when removing blue painter's tape? I've painted a couple of rooms in my home. When I went to remove the blue painter's tape from the baseboards and trim, paint came off the walls with the tape. In one room, I think I waited too long to remove the tape (2 weeks). In the other room however, I waited 24 hours. What gives?

Answer: im a painter and have seen that many times. theres 2 possible reasons, 1... there may be unseen grease or something on the wall 2. the most likely reason is that you have applied semigloss or high gloss over a flat painted wall without priming it first. one way to help keep the paint from pulling off with your tape, after the paint dries, take a razor knife and lightly make a cut at the tape and wall line to seperate the two. tip. always pull your tape offotuward and at a 45 degree angle. hope this helps.
