Question: in Building Automation System, how can l possibly get the exact specs. of modular building controllers? A 100 bed patient hospital requires an integrated building automation system, what are the required modular controlers does l need for PABX, CCTV, Fire fighting and Alarm, Water Supply, Window shutters, HVAC,Lighting control, Power system, Technical Furniture setting, Pecision Air conditioning and TV Broadcasting.
Answer: Go to the SIEMEN's website. They specialize in Energy Managment systems.
Question: how do building automation systems work?
Answer: Well most automatic systems require programming. But to break it down even more, an automated system of any type has to have conditional logic. That means it takes action based on a condition. "IF this is full, THEN open valve". Or is the light on? TRUE, do this, FALSE, do that.
In order to make any system work, every action must be broken down into terms that are Boolean (true or false).
The trick is to avoid things known as endless loops. This can cause an automated system to stop functioning as intended and can often cause damage.
So while some parts of the system are doing conditional logic on a step by step basis, larger systems that integrate the smaller steps might need to also have conditions to look for that could cause an overall system failure.
Question: about building automation? I am currently working in CCTV, Fire safety, Access control, burglar alarm field .I want learn building automation (BMS) .pls guide me how I can get in to this field and what are the eligibilities I should have
Answer: in able to build an automatic system, you need an electronic engineering knowledge specifically field instruments and controllers. in building automation it's better to use PLCs to monitor everything in the building.
Question: How much does a Building Automation controller cost? I'm doing a research on building automation and I have these three things in mind:
ControlLogix by Rockwell Automation
Excel 15A by Honeywell
Network Zonal System by Network HVAC.
I haven't been able to find approximate cost listings on these though. I was wondering if any of you could help me with those.
Thanks!
I'm working to provide a design solution for a Home for the Deaf. The Programmable controller needs to control three heating systems: HRV, In-floor and air conditioning as well as the lighting of the building. The current controller in place is a Honeywell Excel15B. But it monitors more than it controls. Everything except the controller will remain the same. Is that possible to do? If so, what is the cost of those single programmable control units?
Answer: it's a little more complicated than that
how many devices?
what are the final control elements?
installation?
retrofit or new build?
normally I used to bid a system at around 1k a point
if this is the honeywell part you are looking at

Question: what is software used in BAS(Building Automation System)?
Answer: The software is unique to the BAS hardware that is purchased. For example, if you use a Siemens system (old LG Powers) the software is Siemens Apogee. If you are using a Johnson Controls, the software is Metasys. Rockwell Automation (Allen Bradley) is even now jumping into the BAS area. AB's software, while ladder logic is Rockwell Software. Each vendor has their own proprietary software and many are not "open" for the user to reprogram let alone communicate between hardware platforms
Question: where can i download control oriented language for building automation system tutorial?
Answer: http://www.cs.su.ac.th/~tasanawa/cs51751…
Question: I am looking for a non-bias web site for case studies on building automation systems.?

Building Automation Made Simple
Question: Any suggestions about smart wiring or home automation? For new home - building in coming 12 momths. Would like to ensure I have audo available in mulitple rooms + internet access.
Answer: Yes there is a tun of stuff you can do. First thing first is to have a 1 1/2 to 2in PVC pipe from your basement to the Attic. Access points at each lvl. Take pictures of your walls b4 you put up drywall. Have at least one Data point per room. Use the latest and greats cable for Data. And Plan for where you want your home theator. Use good cable for each run to the speakers. Dont go cheep here because next time you swap out speakers you will have good cable to handle the new technology.
For smart home stuff have access points to the front and garuage. To start after you have that you will have to decide what type of smart home stuff you will have at the house.
I install all this stuff for a living and the key item is that PVC pipe and the pictures of the walls b4 drywall is put up. Do thoes few things and your good to go.
Question: What is the job title? And how do I become one. home automation? I’m thinking of things I may want to do as a carrier option.
I want to be a guy that goes into a home being built or remodeled and design an interment network and internet wiring, and surround sound the works. Like they have now I think it’s called home automation. Then install all the wires and equipment.
Also would this be a good job.
Answer: I think you got the wrong forum! This is the home theater electronics forum where discussions are centered around technical home theater system and TV operational and electronic questions. I think you probably want the "Careers & Employment" sub-forum of Business & Finance, where they do discuss different types of jobs, salaries, and job specific education.
Question: Is it too late now to start my final education and career after? Hello,
I have a question to ask you here I am 25 years old. Who is finishing a distance education course in Electronics. Would like to ask you for your opinions. Is it too late to go to an offline College get a degree and a career ? I have been dealing in one way or another with Electronics since being a kid. In School did well but like to fulfill my dream. Such as work with building automation things. Such as Robots, Airplanes and other things. Due to personal and "tragic" reasons did not go to offline College.
Gee.... Did I miss my train and no possible future for me to get my final education starting at 25 ?
My problems have finally cleared but so have lost time. I would like to have outside opinions from (you) if it is worth even trying. My Mother says it is not yet late to start. But what if she is only saying this to make me feel good? Since I am her Son. Most of my peers already have finished Education.
What do you think is my situation helpless?
What about financial aid?
Answer: Many people feel that if you don't study when you are younger you will not be able to study later.
In reality there are many choices to a good career. Firstly, finish your online degree, then head out and look for work.
Going to a university to get a degree won't make that much difference, but you might consider doing further higher education if you have trouble finding work.
A smart capable person will find they will advance in their work. Experience, especially in electronics, will count for more than your degree.
Life is not over until they stick you in the ground and cover in dirt (and even then you have a chance of becoming a zombie)
