Question: construction? I live in a shared house with my landlord. he has started a construction in his house since last year and has made a lot of mess in front of my room. Now the construction finished but he hasn't clean the area.he is a good person but this condition really made me nervous as I feel that I live in a construction zone! do I have this right to protest him and ask him to clean the area?
Answer: Yes, you do. If you are a legal tenant, you could sue him if you hurt yourself on the mess- that's the paradox of being a landlord these days. They can get sued for just about anything, regardless of how stupid it may seem.
It would be in his best interest to clean up his mess.
Question: Which construction company in Denver has ability and good reputation to rebuild my condo? We are searching for a good construction company to rebuild (not remodel) our condo. The old building, 16 floors high , will be totally torn down and a new one should be build. Is there any good construction company?
We are in Denver Colorado.
Answer: There are so many great construction companies with good reputations in Denver.
Ask around...word of mouth is the best way to find any good company or product.
Ask at a Local Home Improvement Center.
Question: What construction industry makes the most profit? im planning on starting a construction business but don't know what trade to be in? i was thinking concrete and mason? what's the average profit of a construction company?
Answer: The highest income is in either electrical or HVAC. Masonry is among the lowest.
Question: What is a recent controversial development / construction in your area? What is a recent controversial construction / development in you area?
Hey,
I'm doing an assignment on local planning controversies, which means any new development / construction or laws such as new parking restriction placed in your area.
I am choosing to find a recent controversy from overseas, so if you have heard anything on the news, in your newspaper about a new development such as a major highway or anything that is causing civilian protest please POST as much as you can here.
If you can, find news articles online or even have a search in your local newspaper or news site.
Cheers.
Answer: Do abit of research into rossendale, Lancashire. There they have had many recent controversial developments in particular the opening of 4 supermarkets within a 1.5m radius for a town of around 65000 (2001 census). Not only have the council granted planning permission for all these supermarkets but they have allowed the town centre to fall into disrepair & recently parts of the Hurstwood Group (a regionally large construction firm) have gone bust leaving most of the surrounding areas & town centres in rossendale looking like something from 'The Hills Have Eyes'. It's a crying shame for an area that was once so heavily relied on (shoe production, cotton production in industrial era) I believe that a good report on this subject will not only highlight the areas you are wanting to cover but could also perhaps (fingers crossed) have some impact on the future of rossendale.
If you are going to use this subject I would be more than happy to provide some accompanying info.

Question: What happens to construction costs in a recession? Lets say I want to construct a building, would it cost more during a recession? I was guessing less because the amount of construction people on the market is higher than usual.
Answer: In a recession, usually building new projects slows down. However, if building costs have lowered in price (which they havent) and construction companies are able to get financing (which they can't) then it would be prudent for construction companies to build during recessionary periods.
Not all recessions are the same, is what I'm getting at. The trouble we have today for instance, is that building materials such as steel have not mellowed in price and the bank has stopped lending out money to construction companies to finance their projects. This is putting a real spur to any new projects.
So in economics, it all depends on a variety of factors, there isn't usually a straight one-line answer. Hope this helps.
Question: Would a construction loan be the type of loan for building a new home? If you wanted to build your own house, would you apply for a construction loan? What are the terms of a construction loan? How hard is it to get one?
Answer: Yes you want a construction loan and one that can be converted to a permanent loan. Why? During the construction process the builder is entitled to a draw (of money) at predetermined stages. Also, with a construction loan you only pay interest on the money that is drawn. When the home is completed you then need a permanent loan.

Question: How do construction loans work? My husband and I are working with a builder of a subdivision we are planning on building in. We chose a home from the options this builder has for the sub. To get started on the house, we need to give him $5,000 down. However we do not have the funds saved so we are able to do a construction loan. I've heard so many things about construction loans and how the fees are horrible. Yet, its been so hard for me to find any information. Would the fees be that steep, even though we only need $5000 down? Is there any specific banks/companies out there that make this process easier that anyone would recommend? Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!
Answer: It doesn't sound like you are being required to get a construction loan. The builder is asking for an earnest money deposit. Typically, builders require $5,000 to start the home and would ask for an additional 5 or 10 during different phases of the project. If they are going to build something to your specifications, they want you to have enough money into it so you don't back out. The only financing you will need is a normal mortgage, once the house is complete. You will be able to use the money given to the builder as the down payment. Otherwise, you can buy the model.
Question: What does it take to run a construction company? My dad owns a construction company right now and I think that when he retires, I want to take it over. I want to go to college for business and construction. Is this really necessary though. The reason I want to go to college is because I want to turn it into a huge company and I want the tools and knowledge to make that happen. Is this a good decision?
Answer: I'm in the same boat as you, my father also owns a construction company, and I would like to continue running it once he retires. He has a very successful company and still has work right now even though its slow because of the economy. It is not necessary to go to college if your a smart kid and can learn the tools of the trade from your father. The best advice I can give to you is to sit down and have a talk with your dad about this.
Question: What construction work is taking place in sanibel and how long will it last? Hoping to get married at Sannibel harbour resort but have been told about construction work taking place there. Can anyone update me on this?
Answer: The best place to find out - the "horse's mouth" so to speak is at the link below.
This way you can tell them you have heard the rumour and are worried about your "perfect location" being ruined if there are large yellow Spades for making giant sandcastles on the beach!
Question: What construction financing is available if I have vacant land and an offer to buy a house on that land? I live in an urban area and just found a vacant plot of land between two townhouses. I am interested in building a house with a cutting edge/modern design and eco friendly features. If I buy the land and hire an architect/engineer to design the structure, I have a few people interested in buying the house before it's built. If I have an offer from them to buy the house, what are my financing options for the construction of the project?
Answer: Construction perm loan would be best.
