Question: is it better to do mba in biotech or mba in finance or marketing after doing bsc in biotech, in view of job? mba in biotech may limit the area of job......
Answer: MBA in finance is earning very good jobs these days. Finance executives are the most sought in today's market after the IT professionals.
Question: is the college where you get a BIOTECH degree matters to the work market? do i have more chances if i get a job if i earn a biotech degree from a gd university?
Answer: no a degree is a degree, show them your lab notebook when you go for your interview, they will look at your experiments and your procedure, that and a resume telling them your experience in the field should be good enough.
if your college is doing good experiments to train your for an actual job, its standard doesnt matter.
Question: How do I start working with biotech investment/acquisitions with a company like Goldman Sachs? I just graduated with a BS in bio and a background in marketing/business development. I'm more interested in working in finance, specifically something like analyzing GS's biotech investments in Drug R&D where I can transition into a finance career instead of a science one.
What kind of positions should I look for? What is this called?
What other companies should I look at? There doesn't seem to be necessarily a biotech section of the gs jobs
Answer: apply here http://www2.goldmansachs.com/
Question: Whether Marketing in Biotechnology or R&D in Biotech. is better from the point of Money?
Answer: both are profitable if you position yourself correctly or in the right place at the right time.
R and D is profitable bec. there are numerous discoveries that make it big and the patent and royalties go a long way even for years, the only thing you need to have is patience bec. it might take a long time to make a discovery but if you are working for a top pharmaceutical or biochemical company who pays top dollar for a salary even if there is no discovery yet, you're good to go.
On the other hand, marketing will give you the top dollar more faster but the stress is unparalleled. There's more opportunity for growth and your marketability is higher.

Question: Ideas for Marketing to Medical and Legal Students? We develop terminology software for the medical, legal, and biotech industries. We are now looking to expand our focus and market more toward college students. Ideally, these would be medical and law students.
We are looking for Web sites and reference sources that could help guide us through this process. In other words, what are the best ways we can market our 'niche' terminology software to the appropriate college students? What methods and ideas seem to work the best?
Answer: I did research on this a few years ago... For Med students there are shows that go around from school to school that sell products to students that they use through out the year. The name escapes me right now, but that could be a great place to get into.
My advice would be to contact local colleges, find a few students, pay them some dosh, and ask them the questions. A little informal focus grouping will give you tons more insight into the niche markets you're interested in.
Question: Are pharmaceutical/biotech positions the only science jobs left? I am a highly trained environmental chemist with 4 years lab experience, and I am always eager to alter my profile and acquire new skills. My open-mindedness has not done me any favours.
For almost a year I have trawled the web for UK science jobs, but they are almost exclusively pharmaceutical and biotechnology positions. These employers make it clear that non-pharmaceutical graduates can go get lost, and No-Way-Jose do they want someone who hasn't used something called HPLC.
Why, why, oh WHY have these jobs seemingly wiped all other science jobs off the UK market?
Answer: Have you looked at the advertisements in the New Scientist ?
These often include agencies
Have you looked at advertisements in things like the Times Higher Education ( formerly the Times Higher Education Supplement) or other journals which cover the fields you want ? Have you looked at the websites of the professional bodies which cover those fields ?
Question: I am getting an MBA in marketing and finance and I have a degree in Biology. Need advice.? I am trying to get out of the science industry and focus on a job that will work concurrently with me going for an MBA. But, I am having trouble getting my foot in the door since the only experience I have is in the biotech world and I worked as a bartender for a few years. Does anyone know what companies in or near Irvine, CA that could be willing to give me a chance knowing that at my last job I was mainly a lab rat and that I don't have specific business (non-scientific) related experperience? I feel that if given the chance I could really be a strong asset to any company. Again, I do not want to work in a lab anymore.
Answer: My husband had his PhD. in molecular biology and went back to school for an MBA in finance. You should be fine once you get the degree . . . Don't expect to get paid well the first few years . . . but he did find work once he received his MBA. I live in the NE so I don't know about jobs - try a head hunter.
Question: Pharmaceutical/Biotech Industry San Francisco? Is the Pharmaceutical/Biotech industry in San Francisco a good industry to work in?
I've heard both pros and cons about the industry. One of the things I find negative about it is that it is a small industry. I find it smaller than other industries and it is more difficult to find jobs (switching from company to company) because people with science based backgrounds are restricted. Plus people tend to know each other and a negative reputation could hurt your chances of being employed. As opposed to people who are accountants, marketing, or human resources (switching industries).
Anyways, what are your thoughts of this industry?
Answer: It pays well. Lots of money for experiments both government and private. Since no one does much to prevent things from happening and want pills you have a secure future in the field.
Question: jobs in pharma for marketing students? hiii i have done my bsc in biotech. now iam studying marketing as iam interested in pharma business . but initially iam not sure whether this msc marketing and bsc in biotech will fetch me a job in pharma sector. if there are any jobs ...what kind of jobs those please let me know...
thank u
Answer: I guess all large pharmaceutical companies must have internal marketing departments, so obviously there are jobs within those.
To be honest, if you have a good Master's degree, most employers don't care what your first degree is in, so you are not necessarily limited to workin in the pharmaceutical sector anyway.

Question: anyone doing their MA in biotechnology ? how is the job market in the biotech field after doing MA?
WB.....long time man.
Miss QA thanks for the reply. I hope you are right. Do you know any site where I can find more info on this program?
Answer: No, I am not doing an MA in biotechnology. According to the Bureau Labor of Statistics, it is suppose to be one of the most promising fastest growing careers and with your MA, you don't have to worry too much about competition out there because it is still a new career in the United States. I am sure whatever competition will come your way it will be against foreigners, if you are already a foreigner then it would be against Americans. LoL.
Question: How is the job market in Singapore? How is the job market in Singapore? Specifically for Pharmaceutical and Biotech companies?
I've heard that Singapore wants to be the Medical Hub for Asia in the future so I'm wondering if there are many job opportunities there? Or if the job market for that sector is also struggling?
Answer: everyone is struggling with their jobs. Lots of retrenchments
