Question: Do I have to list my current part time spa job on my resume when I am looking for work in biotech/pharma? I am looking for work in the biotech industry. I work at a spa doing massage on friday nights and saturdays. Do I have to list this on my resume? Is not lisiting this job a material omission? I really dont want to highlight my massage work on my resume but dont want to lie or do anything that could negativeley impact me getting a biotech job.
Answer: If the application asks for all jobs, list it. If it asks for relvent experience, don't bother. Many jobs don't have a specific application and just ask for a resume. Just don't put it on your resume then.
Question: How to get a biotech or pharma job? I just graduated with a BS in biology. I am looking for a job at biotech companies but most positions require either MS or many years of experience. I have 2 years of academic lab experience in cell bio. Is there anything I can do to make myself more competitive (other than further studying)? Help Please!!
Answer: I hate to tell you this, but even with a Masters degree in this industry its very difficult to move up. I have friends at Genetec who have Masters from UC Berkeley and still have difficulty moving up. My sister-in-law a agrad from UCLA works for NEKTAR and to move up Masters is required..Another friend is moving into Sports Medicine, from a lab bio company, where she can use her degree and gear it to health and fitness...
or you can do a BALCO move..that guy doesnt have any background in Bio science..and he is a millionare..just not in the way you would think a millionare is made
good lukc

I know the answer varies tremendously depending on who you are, your experience, etc...but I would like to know the full distribution of responses
Answer: Finding a job opening is simple just as the previous poster cited. There are tons of pharaceuticals such as Genentech, Amgen, Watson, Phizer, etc etc.
Getting the job might be a whole other story. My friends who obtained positions usually had someone who referred them. Having and excellent CV and one tailored to the companies needs as well as a well written Cover letter will help. More often than not, I find going to Biotech job fairs will enhance your opportunity if you have good communication skills.

MBA in (???) ,
which is the best option for me ???
please guide me ..
i'm confused
Answer: depends on your area of interest .
if you like research ,etc . go for MTech ( again, choose your area of interest) . that way you'll gain more knowledge in your field . i dont know about clinical research , but i think you would stand a better chance if you did higher studies .
however , if you prefer making money to gaining knowledge , go for MBA . i think your job experience will help , since it is closer to management than research .
