Question: How To Charge For Interior Decoration Work in Florida? I am starting an interior decoration business in Orlando Florida (I already got some projects to work on). The problem is that I do not know how much to charge for my services. I know how to decorate houses. I need to learn to bill. Answer: I found the following info online. Sounds right to me! "Business schools teach a standard formula for determining an hourly rate: Add together your labor and overhead costs, add the profit you want to earn, then divide the total by your hours worked. This is the minimum you must charge to pay your expenses, pay yourself a salary, and earn a profit. Depending on market conditions, you may be able to charge more for your services -- or you might have to get by on less. To determine how much your labor is worth, pick a figure for your annual salary. This can be what you earned for doing similar work when you were an employee, what other employees earn for similar work, or how much you'd like to earn (as long as your goal is reasonable)."

Question: What's the most popular and powerful CAD-like software for interior decoration that is free or not expensive? I'm looking for CAD (computer-assisted design) software to do 2D and 3D design, drafting and modeling for interior design/decoration. The software should be free or not very expensive for non-professionals. It should be able to create 2D floor plans and object sections and outlines as well as 3D models or objects, rooms and houses, with colors, textures, and lighting effects.

Answer: Check into Sketchup. One version is free, the other is the expensive professional model.

Question: How would you pay for interior decoration services? There's a product specialist at a hardware store with an education in interior decorating whose help I'd like. I prefer to offer her a percentage of the cost of a project. These projects would include painting, floor coverings, closet organization, etc. I want to propose a percentage schedule, but am not sure how to structure this schedule. What would you suggest? Do you have any other suggestions?

Answer: She probably has a pay rate she is used to. Ask her first and then you can barter with her after..you need to know what she expects in the beginning before you suggest something else.

Answer: India has a number of institutes offering Degree (B. Arch) in Interior Design (4yr) ..... U have to complete +2 with Physics, Mathematics & English... some of the colleges take students on the basis of AIEEE arch paper... some arrange their own examination.... generally the course starts from July.... Question: Where can I find a book or images on a specific style of British interior decoration? I've heard it's very typical British interior style. It's a bit eclectic, almost cluttered with mixture of bold wallpaper prints etc. For example has anyone seen the movie Vera Drake? I loved the interiors, decor used for that movie! Answer: I would do it like this. Go look at the project, ask the owner what kind of budget they have and go from there. For example.... My aunt wants decorations from the highest name brand and fashion stores there are.. where as my mom wants the same kind of look with cheaper scale furnishings. Since you are just starting out, try this first. You can then say, yes I can do it for that amount, or no, there's no way that's possible. After you've been doing it for a while then you will know more about what kind of clientele you are looking for, and what to charge.

Question: How do I enter the interior decoration field? I only got my high school diploma ....My dream is to be an interior decorator but I never work into that field ...I do not even know how do i enter that field.. I am a cashier

Answer: The interior designers I know got their Bachelor's Degrees and majored in Art Studio. You may have to take 2 years somewhere that doesn't focus on interior design then take your last two at a college that does focus on it. You can go to college for free with the Pell Grant. I've used it and have never paid anything for college except for books with school loans. www.fafsa.edu.gov is the site that you should look into. You can apply using your parent's tax information. First, apply at a college of your choice and then apply with Fafsa and add the school when the question comes up.
