Question: How much should a senior account manager in advertising make? 5 Years experience? Hi, I dont know how much I should be asking for from a future employer. I work in an ad agency in boston but would be interested in hearing from people around the country about what they believe to be the relative pay scales in advertising for the Account manager/ Sr. Account Manager positions. Answer: With 5 years exp and in Boston, you should be pulling down $120k - $150k if you work for a decent agency.

Answer: Possible pros. would be; more money, more experience, look good on your resume. Cons.; being hounded for bills to be paid and not having enough money to meet all your payments on time (having to make excuses why accounts are not paid) and not having any authority over this, having a boring job, stuck in an office all the time, not much chance of advancement, being a negitive person to deal with. Answer: I suggest reading the trade publications like Adweek, AdAge, MediaWeek. They all print local additions and sometimes they may have happenings/goings on for your local area. You are in a good spot in NYC. I know here in Atlanta, we normal hung as a group after work at places close to the office. Also check out AAAA.org, and considering joining -- they are a great resource to learn about the industry and for networking. Radio/TV sales is a great starting ground to getting into Account Management with an ad firm. Work with an advertising headhunter -- they can also help with your career search and networking. Answer: I used to organize my work with reference to the priority and time constraints. If you are working in advertising world, you should be good with time and stress management. Deadlines are always there that creates stessfull situations. My suggestion is to organize the work on daily basis. See what you have to do when and coordinate with your creative, media depts. Always give them an early deadline so that they can work on time even in case of delays you can be safe for delivering the job committed.

Answer: If you don't know what it is, you don't really fit the job eh? You would be the "contact" for the agency for clients that hire them for services. You would discuss their advertising needs, objectives, budget etc.. and help with the advertising development with the team. A Manager and Executive are usually a little different. In Advertising industry these clients are known as Accounts and being an Account manager you have to maintain all possible activities and transactions related to this account. You will be a bridge between the Accoun (client co. like LG) and your advertising agency. Your creative people, copy writers will need to understand the co. its working style, product nd all to make an ad, you need to make them understand about it all by meeting with that co. in advance. After the prelim satge, it will be your duty to coordinate in between the project and providing mutual concent at each level either it is related to creativity or money trasactions afterward as fee. So go ahead.. it is a very good profile as advertising industry is rising.

Answer: account manager is just a fancy word for salesperson. They go see clients and make proposals to clients for advertising plans and promotions that they believe will help the clients business to grow. They also turn in orders to have commercials put on the air and should keep track of the clients billings and payments to make sure they're accurate.
