I have 2 account executives currently and they do the following for us: -Pursue new sales leads, quote them and close them -Oversee all jobs for each account they manage -Monitor budgets on jobs in production -Communicate a clients desires to our design team Hope that helps!

Answer: Hi There, To be a sucessful account executive you need more people skill, more marketing knowledge, more patience compared to the creative side. Essentially the account side is the originator of great ads as great ads can only come from great briefs. Qualification in this area varies from company to company as ad agencies are not all created equal, however a business , mass comm or social science degree is commonly required. Starting salary can be as low as 200 a week to 1000 a week depending on the agency and the account you are handling for newcomer. It can only go upwards from there. What an AE does is basically aquire clients requirement from briefing, interview or field work, digest the info and get the cient to agree on the brief that the AE prepares. After that he gets the brief fulfilled by the agency team within the stipulated deadline.

Question: Advertising account executive for television network? I am currently looking at a position with the CW network for an advertising accoutn exective position. It is a 100% commission position. What can I expect to average per year if I am meeting goal? Any other ad AE's out there???? Preferably any with the CW network???

Answer: as a rule of a thumb you can expect up to 60% of the profit you bring to the company. For example, if you bring them 100K your work is worthed at least 60K

Answer: They are basically sales in charge of specific accounts. For example if they work at say New York Times, they may be in charge of all the ads from Ford, Toyota, etc. The job entails that you can address all the concerns of your clients so that they will place an ad with you. You will need terrific people skills and a degree in marketing won't hurt either.

Answer: no one else answered this yet, so I'll take a stab. I interned at a marketing communications company and worked with executives, so I have a general idea. basically your job is to work between the clients and the creatives (graphic designers, copy writers, web designers, etc) to create what the client wants. you have to make sure the project stays on budget and meets the clients needs. so you might spend a lot of time on the phone or in meetings with the client, in planning meetings with your co-workers and working with the creatives to make sure they understand the clients needs.

I am in a mid-level advertising market with a population of 300,000 people and would like to know the average starting salary of an Account Executive at a one of the top Advertising firms in the area. I do have over 9 years experience with marketing and have my MBA. What salary range should I expect?

What area are you in, you say "top advertising firms in the area", where is this? 300k people is not a large population, I live outside of Detroit Michigan and 4 cities next to mine have populations of over 100,000 each, plus the city of Detroit has almost 1 million. Television marketers here can expect to reach 2.5 to 3 million people.

Answer: I've never heard of an "account executive training course," but it is generally thought that marketing degrees were the appropriate training for those pursuing the account management path in advertising agencies, while those going into the media path would get advertising degrees.
