Question: Why is the Bush administration pursuing a weak dollar policy? I understand that a weak dollar favors imports, but it seems as though a weak dollar is also detrimental to just about everything and everyone else. Can someone knowledgeable please explain to me the different mechanisms by which the current administration is pursuing a weak dollar policy and the goals that the administration hopes to achieve through such a policy?
Thanks!
Answer: a weak dollar doesn't favour imports... it makes it imports more expensive and so imports should go down..
The bush administration has always thought its dollar was too high, esp compared to China which it believes to have an artificially low currency. A lower US dollar should decrease imports and help re-balance the biggest balance of payments problem in the world by decreasing foreign imports and boost US exports to the world.
Question: How is the Bush administration responsible for the Lehman Brothers failure? I see where Obama blames the Bush Administration and some how (ties Mccain into this) for the Stock crisis. Can some one please explain to me how the administration or any other administration can be blamed for big business corporation for making extremely poor business decisions? Over speculation? And corruption? Please, educated answers only without the 4 letter words about any specific administrations name . . . its a general question about government and how it can affect business.
Answer: There is an independent federal agency called the Securities and Exchange Commission. The SEC was created by Congress, but is overseen on a day-to-day basis by the current presidential administration.
The SEC's task is to regulate financial markets. It regulates them not by getting directly involved in running the markets, but by making sure that participants in financial markets honestly disclose information about their financial condition. It also makes sure that securities are not sold illegally. All of the investment banks currently in trouble participate in markets regulated by the SEC, and must generally follow the SEC's rules.
The theory behind having the SEC is that if public companies have to disclose their operations, potential investors will KNOW when a company has made bad decisions. If investors have access to accurate information, they will be able to reward successful companies with further investment and punish companies that make poor decisions by withholding investment or by selling existing investments. If there were no SEC, people would be investing in the dark. There would be no way to know which companies had healthy balance sheets and which ones had huge losses or a terrible business model.
The Presidential administration can choose how strictly or loosely it wants the SEC to regulate. It can enforce existing laws to the letter, and if it wants, it can propose stricter regulations as long as those regulations do not conflict with statutes passed by Congress.
On the other hand, the administration can choose to enforce the SEC disclosure rules in a very lax way. It can decide to take public companies at their word when they say that everything is fine, even when everything is not fine.
Obama is accusing the Bush administration of being too lax in its enforcement of existing laws. His point is that the SEC's job is to make sure the public has access to information that will allow it to make wise investment choices. And he is arguing that the SEC, which is under control ultimately of the President, didn't do its job.
You might agree or disagree. But that's the argument he's making.
Question: How is a degree in business administration different from a degree in accounting? What's the difference and which is better? If I have a bachelor's degree in business administration, is it better than a bachelor's degree in accounting?
Also, if I have a bachelor's degree in business administration, what jobs am I open up to, and will it help me score a job as an accountant?
If I have a degree in accounting only, what options for jobs do I have other than an accountant?
Answer: A degree in business gives you many more opportunities than one in accounting.
However, if you want to be an accountant, majoring in accounting is best, though you can also become an accountant if you take enough accounting classes as part of your business degree.
As an accountant, you might work your way up to comptroller or treasurer.
Question: Currently studying business administration, and know 3 languages. What are the best business careers for me? I'd like to know what career opportunities are out there for me!
I am currently in my freshman year of college studying for my bachelors in business administration.
Also, I am fluent in French, English and Spanish. How can this help me in the future?
Answer: Talk to your college adviser first! I would say something in International Business would be good.
Question: What were the key administration decisions and legal memos that authorized torture in the Middle East? What were the key administration decisions and legel memos that authorized the torture and degrading treatment that came after 9/11?
I know there were severl memos, I just need the 3 main ones
Answer: I think this is the three main one's.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8003023.stm
Question: What can the current administration do in their last 60 days to change their legacy? I ask this question because we still have at least 60 days with the current administration. What can they do that will make us stop referring to the last 8 years they've been in office? Is it possible for them to change their legacy in 60 days?
Answer: Apologize.
Question: Why does the Obama administration insist on continuing to waterboard? How is he different from the crooked bush administration... When will he understand you just can't torture terrorists because it's the best way to get information? Why can't he just hug them, and rub their backs and ask nicely? Maybe offer them some starbucks and a good fireside chat about their upbringing?
Answer: America now has a president who is completely out of touch with all that America stands for. These people that profess to love America - but they only love “their America” - an America that has nothing to do with the Constitution and small government. Obama is the weakest president I have known of during my life time - weakest in the sense that his “policies” are so anti-American and so liberal that they smell of corruption, HUGE spending, saying “yes” to EVERY program they can dream of and a thirst for power that has yet to be seen in the free America. o_O
Question: Why did Barney Frank under the Clinton Administration wanted all the poor to get easy loans? Are we seeing the catastrophe that The Clinton Administration started and then passed to the Bush Administration ???
We are seeing that giving $300,000 loans to the poor is not the right thing and now we're paying the price!
Answer: Because the poorer people are, the more they vote Democratic.
As soon as they figure out that they can make their own money, they turn into Republicans.
Question: How do you get a Masters in Business Administration? Do you have to have a business administration bachelors degree to be able to move on and get your MBA? Or can you major in finance and then get your MBA with that? What would you recommend me doing? I love finacial planning and budgeting, but I also love business administration. After I have worked for a couple of years after i get my bachelors, I will probably go back to school for a couple more years so I can move up within the company. What do you think would be best for me to major in?
Answer: you can major in anything in college and get into an MBA program. example, computer science, physic etc...

Question: How many total jobs lost during the Bush Administration? I am doing a comparative discussion in a class I teach about job growth and loss. I can find the "jobs added" or "lost" for just about every other administration, but I can't find the total jobs added/lost for the Bush Administration. I know by the end of his first term there were 1.1 million jobs lost, but what about inclusive of the second term?
Thanks in advance.
Answer: 2.6 MILLION by the time he is exiting. Clinton opened the portals to heaven bcoz hiz confident about the 6million jobs he created, he knows the people can afford them. he did not know it will be spent to war, foreign AIDS and restoration.
Question: How do I find online health administration jobs that will allow me to work from home? Soon I'll have a degree in health administration and I was wondering how to go about finding work online. I don't have a car and I live out in the country so online employment would be ideal for me. I don't want to do any surveys or sell gadgets out of my home or give "parties". I've heard of health care positions that people can work from home.
If you know of anything credible please respond to this question.
Thank you.
Answer: A site I found helpful is http://www.workathomedesk.com - It is a free site that has a good directory of companies that hire telecommuters. Hope this helps you find what you are looking for! Remember to never pay to get a job or any type of fee upfront. Good luck!
Question: How do you think the Obama administration will react if RATM is performing? Hopefully not like the Republicans at the RNC. However, if they want to impose this fairness doctrine, and reports claiming Ron Paul is a "terrorist", then exactly how far will this administration push its ideas of hope and change?
Answer: the only thing that can stop RATM is themselves
Question: What are some starting ideas for internships in public administration? I'm planning on entering an MPA program next fall. I know it's kind of a long way off, but I really want to do an internship after I complete my studies. The degree I will be getting is a Master's in Public Administration. I will probably choose the concentration in Nonprofit Administration. I'd really like to do my internship for a large NGO - preferably one with an international focus. I would also consider internships in the federal or state government if I still could have a public service focus. Where are some good places to start?
Answer: If you are in the U.S., get in touch with your local senators and representatives (state and federal) and government leaders. If you give them a really big campaign donation, that is even better.
Question: What do you think of the new administration in Ohio who rode into office on a ethics platform? Within the first 6 months of the administration being in office the wife of the City of Columbus's mayor who the administration appointed to a high level post resigned for lying about reporting to her job. And now they have a student intern who had a personal computer stolen with records of state employees and state taxpayers on it that could lead to serious identity theft for thousands. The Strickland administration easily won office due to countless ethical violations by the previous Republican administration of Robert Taft. So now the problems already start. And why does a lowly student intern have the records of all state employees and taxpayers in his hands?
Justin you just don't get it. The new administration made all these claims of being ethical and a better handler of the taxpayer's funds and they go and waste money on staff and expose thousands to identity theft which can be a liability of millions for all involved. Things like Taft letting someone buy coins with government funds is the same as what it looks like this administration has in store for us.
Answer: I don't think that you are too bright. Coleman was elected in 1999 and is a republican. I do agree that his wife is worthless, and that he mispends millions on his stupid downtown projects.
and the tapes regarding the intern... do you really think that those policies were in place for only the last 6 months. It has already been widely announced that interns and other authorized people have been bringing those tapes home since the change to the disks in 2001. I think that is one of the dumbest ideas that I have heard in a long time. Who would let sensitve information out of the office like that, and for what reason.
The point is that none of the newly elected officials in Ohio have done anything wrong, yet, and I'm not holding my breath and thinking they won't. I can see how it can get much worse than the mess that Taft created in our state.
Question: Whats the difference between Accounts Department and Administration Department? What's the difference between the accounts and administration department, just explain me clearly, some examples if possible.
Answer: Administration Department handles Human Resources, Details from whom to Purchase, fixes Rates, handles negotiations with Vendors, and looks after all administrative duties.
Accounts Department pays and receives payments according to policies set by the Administration Department. Balances the books of accounts, and alerts the Admin Department when a border (due date for payment, Less Balance in account than required, etc..) is reached.
Question: What are some politically correct terms used by the Bush administration? Now that we're about to close the book on the George W. Bush presidency, I thought we could reflect on phrases his administration has added to the politically correct lexicon.
For example:
At the beginning of the Iraq War, they used "shock and awe" when they really meant "terrorize." I've also noticed the administration uses "aggressive interrogations" instead of "torture."
What are some other examples you have noticed?
Answer: Ahh, the made up words are funnier.
Transformationed.
Mential.
Embetter.
Subliminable.
Insticated.
Ingrinable.
Internets.
Misunderestimate.
Resignate.
He's got a subtle genius... sorry... genios for that kind of thing.
