Question: A shipping clerk pushes a heavy package across the floor. He applies a force of 64 pounds in a downward direc A shipping clerk pushes a heavy package across the floor. He applies a force of 64 pounds in a downward direction, Making an angle of pie over 6 radians with the horiztonial. If the package is moved 24', how much work is down by the clerk.
Here the rest of the question
Answer: The force along the horizontal axis is 64*cos(pi/6)
= 64*sqrt(3)/2 = 32sqrt(3) lbs
The work done = F*D
= 32sqrt(3)*24 = 1330 ft-lbs
Question: What does a Shipping/Receiving Clerk do? I am going to apply at this one company that needs a person for that. Please help.
Thank you.
Answer: Well, he or she may weigh packages, assign the right postage to them, could possibly need to lift packages (I'm sure they'll tell you if you do as there will be a certain maximum weight for safety reasons), probably will keep track of shipments on the computer log...might do some actual packaging (sometimes jobs can overlap; technically a clerk probably wouldn't package, but in several companies I've worked at, shipping "clerks" did both).
Good luck!
Question: our shipping and receiving clerk, drives the company car and gets a speeding ticket? whose responsibility is that?
Answer: it is his and if your company is smart you will not let him drive the vehicle again
Question: How long for shipping to GA from VA? I used to USPS to send a two small packages from 22192 to 27712 (NC) on the 14th, and by the 20th, they weren't received. I don't recall what kind of shipping I paid for, the clerk just asked "cheapest shipping?" and I said yes, but I am worried because shipping from VA to CA took only three days... It's been 6 and it hasn't gotten there yet. I didn't buy "delivery confirmation" just because I've never really needed it and I am starting to panic. Is this normal?
Answer: Unfortunately, it sounds like your packages were sent Parcel Post, which at times can move at a snails pace. Typically Parcel Post can be anywhere from 7~10 days on some ships, even though your distance is not that far. I would give it another day or so and it should arrive. This clerk should of given you a preference, because for probably for a dollar or so more, your packages would have been delivered last week.
Question: Why does the post office ask if you have liquids or foods when shipping? Every time I ship out a package, the clerk asks if the package contains any food, liquids or perishables, why?
Answer: The clerk should ask, "Does your package contain anything liquid, perishable, fragile or potentially hazardous?"
We want to make sure that you have packed such items well and aware of the regulations for sending such items. I've seen many a parcel ruined by the ignorance of other mailers.
The grossest was venison, which was apparently frozen at the time of shipping, sent parcel post at Christmas and had dripped leaky blood throughout an airline container of 300 parcels.
Isn't it better to ask than to have your package ruined?
Question: Does the Army have a postal clerk mos? I know in the Navy you have PC,SK and SH which Postal clerk,Store keeper and Ship service men. What MOS is equivalent to Postal Clerk in the Army?
Answer: No, but as an additional duty, many units are required to have a percentage of their Soldiers work in the unit mail room. Especially during high demand times such as the holiday season.
Question: i work in shipping and reciveing if i injury me knee on my time will i be able to resume if shipping duties? i work in a shipping a reciveing clerk, from loading furnatior merchendise if i were to injury me knee would be able to resume that same position.
cant get workmens comp if i did it at home and not at work
can they consider job abandoment if i hurt myself outside of work
Answer: I am a shipping supervisor for Whole Foods Market in Denver, Colorado so I know a thing or two about injuries. If you hurt yourself outside of work and are not able to perform your usual duties they do have the right to replace you. Now this may vary from state to state and at most workplaces, if they care about their employees at all, they will help you out either by giving you a different job you can handle or allowing you to recover before returning to work. However if you did injure yourself out of work there isn't any compensation from your job and they technically don't have to do anything for you.
Question: Even if you purchase a shipping label online, don't you have to go and wait in line at the post office? I've noticed that you can purchase a shipping label online through USPS. Once you have done that, don't you still have to go wait in line and drop it off with the clerk at the post office?
Answer: If you print a shipping label online.. No you do not have to go to the post office.. no matter where you print your label from you can do what is called a Carrier Pick up. Carrier Pick up is FREE of charge.. you just place your package where your mail gets delivered daily, or at the office.. The mail man will pick it up when he/she delivers your mail. Do not confuse it with Pick Up On Demand as that is not a free service..
What I Personally do is since at least 1 item has to be Priority or Express.. If I have muitple Packages I will ship 1 priority and the rest Parcel Post or First class depending on the package.. If you do 1 priority you can include the rest of your packages in the carrie pick up.
I use this all the time.. and have never had a problem. 1 time we had a really bad snow storm and the local post office called to ask if it was ok if they came the next day. If not they would send someone out.. I said not a problem.

Question: what jobs are always hiring in san jose california? im 17 years old and have janitorial and shipping clerk experience and looking for a job. ive been to like 8 different places and no one is hiring.
Answer: Many places do have a job freeze right now.
I'd be leary of any place that is "always" hiring, as that would mean that their turnover rate is high.
Check out Craigslist. Along with the job section there is also gigs that may be short term work.
Question: I'm trying to find a chart, charting the average wages for shipping & recieving clerks in california.?
Answer: It Depends on your experience and the size of the company , I make 18 per hour in florida
