Question: What should you study if you want to become an Office Assistant? I would really like to be an office assistant since I love doing office work, running errands, etc. I wanted to know what you would have to study in college to become one. I'm probably going to major in Business and minor in English Lit.
I found a lot of answers regarding being assistants for law firms and such. Is there a reason why that is so popular?
What type of companies would need office assistants? I would like to work for a slightly bigger one, not the ones with 4 people and they all wear t-shirts to work.
Answer: Agree with, "computer stuff, computer stuff!"
In my company, the Office Assistants -- who are highly valued, and I know I couldn't be a successful Vice President without mine -- need terrific organizing skills, excellent "people" skills, a good understanding of how businesses function, and good writing/editing skills.
Yes, take English classes -- including writing, and editing, if you can. Take one or more time management classes; find something that sounds like, "Dealing With Difficult People," and get a job on campus in your Admissions Office, or something where you can get experience before you hit the job market.
Question: Is a Medical office assistant a difficult career to learn? I wanna get my diploma as a medical office assistant ,Do you think that an online diploma is accepted?
Or should I go to an institute?
Is this a difficult career to learn?
Answer: I've been in the medical field for 33 years and there are many classes for being a medical assistant in adult education and probably online. It would be a better idea to be around other people who are going to the same classes, just to get the feel for what you'll be doing. It's not hard to learn and it can be very interesting. Actually, medical assistants get to do a lot of things the nurses used to do.like taking blood pressures, weighing patients, etc. You should be a good people person and if you are,go for it and good luck with a new career.
Question: Will being a high school office assistant give me any credit like taking a class would? I'm wondering if being an office assistant (help with filing and stuff in the counseling office) will be a worthwhile thing to do during my 6th period. I wanted to take art, but it's full, and this doesn't sound bad at all.
Will colleges consider being an office assistant valuable at all? I know I won't get actual credits like I would if I took a class.
would it be much better than just having no 6th period?
Answer: never did for me.
Question: What types of questions can I expect duing an interview for an office assistant position? I have an interview tomorrow for an office assistant position. I have never interviewed for this type of position before. What kinds of questions can I expect?

Do you prefer to work by yourself or with others?
What is one word to describe yourself?
How do you handle conflict / misunderstandings?
What does customer service mean to you?

Question: What makes a good Medical Office Assistant? When you go to the doctor's office, and you are called from the waiting room, a MOA or Medical Office Assistant is taking you back and taking your vitals. What do you as a patient expect from this person? How could they make you feel most comfortable or make the doctor visit most worthwhile?
Answer: I am most comfortable when the office personnel act in a professional way and are not busy chatting with others in the office over your head and around you. The assistant should be attentive and friendly but not condescending. Acting brusque and hurried is a no-no, too.
Question: What do you do as an office assistant? I'm turning 16 this summer and I recently got the opportunity in getting an office job. Can you guys tell me some things you have to do as an administrative assistant? Please explain specifically for me!
Answer: Typing, filing, running errands, answering the phone, taking messages. Lots of paperwork. Checking orders, placing orders.
If you like school and doing school work and being organized, you should like it.
It is important to know how to spell, be courteous, and behave and dress professionally.

Question: Can you be a medical office assistant in the navy? Can you be a medical office assistant in the Navy..
I'm a 20 yr old female I'm nervous I dont know what I want to do but I want to give the Navy a try... Any advice on what women my age would be good at in the Navy or should try?
Answer: Hi, I' m a Navy Hospital Corpsman 1st class. You want my job.
Being a Corpsman is a very rewarding job...well atleast I think and there are many otptions for you in your career...and it is pretty easy to do many different aspects of the job.
first you have to go to bootcamp, everyone does, it sucks, but it's only 2 months and you will ive I promise.
Second you go to a five month "A" school right across the street from bootcamp in NTC Great Lakes. when I went to the school it was 50/50 classroom to clinic time...but I have heard it has changed a little...more time on computer studying and less time in the clinic. I heard this is because there are more civilians in our field now. If while in bootcamp you are going through the medical processing phase and you see some E-4 and below ranked HM's helping out....those are Corpsman Candidates.
After A school, you can go to one of many C schools...my first C school was FMF (not FMS, and you have to qualify to do this...not everyone is allowed to) Fleet Marine Force School in California...I went basically to learn how to work and live with Marines...It's tough, but it was worth it. It opened a lot more doors along my career path. My second C school was psychology..I negotiated with my detaliers for these orders since I was persuing a degree in psychology as well. ther are many more to choose from from basic clinic corpsman, lab technician, nuclear medicine, optician, dental hygenist/assistant, nutritionist, Xray technician...etc.
I myself have worked in a few different enviroments. I have worked as a Field Corpsman with the marines both during peace and war times, I have ran a small shipboard clinic on an LHD, and I have worked in two big hospitals one in VA and one in WA. I have done not only my job as a counseler, but I have been in the emergency room, duty corpsman for sick call, logs and records, pharmacy, a little bit as a dental assistant back when they first merged our too rates.
I get to help people everyday, I feel satisfied when I can make people comfortable and happy...also I have seen combat and helped save peoples lives. So I like the rate and I plan on staying here for as long as they will let me.
here is the navy NEC manual for..start at 8401 for the Hospital Corpsman Codes...
http://buperscd.technology.navy.mil/bup_updt/508/nec/8000_8999.htm
Good luck
I.A.
I don't know why people keep saying this...not all Corpsman go FMF with the marines....only a select few. You have to qualify for it first....there are many, MANY Corpsman who do not go FMF.
Question: What questions should I expect for interviews for an office assistant and a teacher assistant? These are work-study jobs on campus. The office assistant job is in a media studies dept. The teacher assistant is for 6mo - 5yr olds.
Answer: The word “interview” itself makes a person tense and nervous who needs to appear in the interview. It is normal human behaviour to become confused or get tensed but such things can be overcome with practice, learning from seniors and elders, thru own experience. At my time internet was not available. These days Internet is a rich source of information. U can learn many things about the interview by visiting the websites the links of which are given below. On some websites u will find questions also along with answers which are frequently asked and questions pertaining to ur requirement can also be found there provided u surf on them thoroughly and consciously. It will improve ur performance remarkably. It will infuse a high level of confidence in u. It will make u more frank and it will develop diplomatic qualities in u too. Overall, I would say that it will give an impetus to ur personality development. Ur specific requirement can also be met on these sites provided these are surfed well.

Question: What do I do if my office assistant smells like poop? My office assistant (I work in a psychologist office) tends to smell like poop, and I can't stand it! I don't know what to say about it because you can't really bring that kind of thing up. I've tried giving her gum and mints, but she won't take them. I think it's her breath; I have reason to believe she has an eating disorder. She somehow manages to fill the whole office with a mild sense of poop. One day, she even turned to me and said she had a bad taste in her mouth. What do I do?
Answer: Spray her with Lysol. That will get the message across
Question: How to get a administrative/office assistant job? Im taking classes for microsoft programs. but other than that i dont have clerical experience. How do i get jobs like these if I dont have experience? do i need a business degree. i already have my bachelors but it isn't in business. I've noticed a few office assistant positons that aren't asking for more than year in experience. What are these companies looking for in these positions?
Answer: I agree with everything that NFL FAN said. I'm also old enough to remember them being called secretaries, lol.
You will get an interview, probably with a smaller sized company. That's a good thing, because you will be asked to do many things, broadening your skills.
The main thing they will be looking for in you is attitude. Try to be as bright and perky as you can be. Remember that you will often be the first face customers see when they walk in the door, or voice they hear when the call...the person interviewing you will be looking at your personality traits.
Question: penn foster medical office assistant-what is the work experience option? I am thinking of enrolling in the Medical Office Assistant program at Penn Foster, and they say that you're eligible to take the RMA exam after completing the course and the Work Experience Option, but nowhere on the site does it mention what that entails. Does anyone know? Anyone gone to this school for this program and gotten their RMA??
Answer: Contact Penn Foster and they will do a good job of explaining the Work Experience Option to you./
Question: What are the advantages of a Male office assistant? As opposed to a female office assistant?
Answer: I would think that a male assistant would be less empathetic to get the job done.
