Question: How does one get a job as a copy clerk at a paper such as the Chicago Tribune? So many newspaper reporters have gotten "in" by starting as a copy clerk. Do copy clerks even exist anymore? Do you have to know someone (in the typical Chicago style of cronyism and nepotism) in order to get a job as a copy clerk at the Trib? Excuse my ignorance, and thanks.

Answer: Mainly, the term Copy Clerks was used back in the 19th century when there wasn't any copying machines, if an office wanted to keep a copy of an outgoing letter, a clerk had to write out the copy by hand. Nowadays, just about anyone can operate the modern day copiers. Likely, the Tribune does have several openings for a variety of positions. Check their job ads or send a resume. Good luck.

She has served title clerks at the counter and has had owners of dealerships say they need to hire somebody. The DMV being a state job has great benefits, but the B.S. makes it almost unbearable. What does a title clerk position pay and is it worth it to make the switch?

Answer: Title clerks at reputable car dealers get paid a lot better than state employees! The job can be high stress because customers lie, cheat, obscure, and diseminate to get car deals done! Title clerks have to do title searches sometimes in only minutes while the sales manager stands over their sholder rushing them so that they can make "one more sale today" PLUS if you boo boo at the DMV its s.o.p to just give the client another form to fill out and send them to the line again! If you mess up at a dealership most car dealers are TOTALLY unforgiving!

Question: What is the movie where the clerk refuses to accept a 50 dollar bill? There is some scene in some movie where two men (I think) walk into a convenience-type store and one man attempts to pay with a 50 dollar bill and the clerk doesn't accept it, and he and the man get in an argument, the man yelling that a 50 dollar bill is legal tender and the clerk has to accept it, but the clerk still refuses. I can't remember what movie it's from and it's driving me nuts! Please help.

Answer: In kansas its around $7.50/hr, don't know about GA though.

Answer: Assuming that the gift wrapping charge was taxed as well: Price before tax and gift wrap = (222.36 / 1.09) - 4 Price = $200

Question: what is the difference between an administrative assistant and an office clerk? I have been trying to apply to an administrative position but have only experience as a clerk and I haven't gotten too many call backs. So, just wondering if the two aren't similar with experience.

Answer: Office clerk is usually a person who does clerical work, like posting accounts receivable, vouchering accounts payable,posting to various journals of original entry such as asset books,sales journals, payroll books, time sheets, etc. An administrative assistant can be a secretary to a department head, executive secretary to any officer of the company or assistant to the sales manager who keeps the sales staff informed of upcoming events, meetings, seminars, etc.

Question: What is the difference between an admin assistant and a ward clerk? On the website the job title is stated as admin assistant. But when I downloaded the additional documents containing more information about that job, the title was changed to ward clerk. Is it still worth applying for?

Answer: A 'ward clerk' may be another name for 'hospital unit clerk/coordinator' or 'unit secretary' within a hospital at the nursing unit desk. Question: What is a british justice clerk within a magistrate court? What do they do? I am up against a justice clerk tomorrow and just wondering who they are? I have done some research and found they are below a judge and are like trainees...If my reserach is correct!

Answer: i think a clerks job in a magistrates court is to instruct the magistrates on points of law and to inform them what sentences they are allowed to impose because magistrates are not lawyers or solicitors.

Question: What are the responsibilites of a live in hotel desk clerk? I have many years of being a regular hotel front desk clerk, but I recently just got hired to be a LIVE-IN desk clerk where I live at the hotel...which is very different to me. How exactly does it work when the hotel does not have a 3rd shift? Do people call down to the room and u have to jump out of bed, etc? How do you know if people are at the desk or something? Has anybody ever done this before? This hotel is a 69 room facility and pretty big. Anybody have any past experience and/or knowledge they can share in this field?
