Question: I'm 33 years old and working as a Receptionist.Am I too old to work my way up to being an executive Secretary? I am a bilingual receptionist and a very good worker. I do more than what I should do to help the attorneys. I have been working for this company for one year and I 'm only getting paid $8 an hour. I feel I deserve a raise, but I can't find a way on how to ask for it. HELP!!
Answer: You're not too old to 'work your way up', but you may need to go elsewhere to do it. How likely is it that there will be an opening in your firm in the near future? Inquire about that and if you can't be told anything definitive, you may want to consider beginning to look elsewhere.
Question: 22 year old female looking for a job. Bilingual English & Spanish, i have server and front desk receptionist? experience. I live in Kissimmee ,FL and can work for any employee. Please help me with any job, i can start ASAP
Thanks
Answer: Well, it may be easier to submit resumes to companies that are hiring.
Question: Why isn't it considered discrimination when an employer asks for bilingual applicants only? I feel that this is discrimination against the caucasian race by requiring that I know Spanish in order to be qualified for a position as simple as receptionist.
Answer: No it isn't discrimination.
My employer requires everyone hired to lift at least 100 pounds for reasons not worth explaining on here.
It isn't discrimination if they turn away certain applicants (mostly petite women) for that reason. And for that reason, the job is dominated by men.
Question: Need good training school for computer and receptionist...? I am outdated in new computer programs. I have not been working in the office field for years.
Anyone can recommend a good training school to get a fast certificate in computer programs? and a good training place to refresh my receptionist skills.
I want some short intensive course as I am looking for a job asap but my qualifications are not enough.
Anyone could recomend a good place to study? I am bilingual and hope to get a good job as soon as I update my CV.
Please help me!
Answer: You don't really need to take a course, although there are plenty of courses out there, they are a waste of money. All you really need to do is pick up the guide for Microsoft office and learn how to use the programs and you'll do fine.
Question: I am looking for a job as A medical receptionist. Is it illegal not to hire Me because I don't speak Spanish?? I live in so. Calif. and alot of spanish speaking people. No problem except most jobs ask for bilingual or prefered. wouldn't that be discrimination ??
It't seems to Me that it is more of a reqirment in the medical field than most other job, by ;ookin in the paper and online hot jobs well we willsee what happens maybe a change will do idk ??Thanks
Answer: Unfortunately, being bi-lingual has become a necessary part of most jobs in California.
and with the wide spreed influx of illegal immigrants it is becoming necessary in many parts of the United States.
especially in small businesses where there in not enough staff to have both bi-lingual, and non bi-lingual employees.
I would suggest that you apply for clerical staff in a hospital.
or take Spanish classed.
Question: Anyone knows of Temp Agencies in London? I have been adviced to apply to Temp Agencies in order to get experience and ad it to my CV. I am new in the UK and have no idea where to find these agencies in the City or surroundings.
Can anyone tell me where to find them?, how much does a temp agency take away from your salary and how do the taxes work? how much does a BiLingual Receptionist make? or the extra language does not matter?
Is it true Temp agencies help you built your CV and does not matter how much experience you have in order to pace you in a Temp position?
If I also want to work in a Boutique or Jewelry Store, how much should I get paid?
Please help! I need a Job, but no job sugestions to do it from home or Online. I am not interested in that at all, but thank you anyways!
I really need serious answers.
Answer: Reed and Office Angels do temp work, but if its shop work your after your best going to the job centre!
Question: How much does H n R block pay? Does anyone know how much H n R block pay an hour for a person working as a tax proffessional or receptionist? I am bilingual so should I get a bit more than regular? Please help anyone!
Answer: The starting pay for tax professional is about $7.75 if you don't make any bonus; a bit lower for receptionist. Never heard about higher rate for bilingual, but never hurt to ask.
The bonus pay for tax professional is dependent on the revenue you generate for H&R Block exceeding the base hourly rate.
It gets a bit better after the first year. The hourly rate goes up and also receive bonus for return clients.
Best wishes.

Question: I am going for my 1 year evaluation this thurs i want to get a raise what are some good tips.? I work at a doctors office and I am bilingual I have been their 1 year this Aug, I am a receptionist and also take vitals when needed the help, I only get paid 8.00 an hour How much of a raise should i ask for.
Answer: If you want $10 an hour ask for $11.50. He will negotiate down no matter what. Be prepared to explain why you deserve such a raise and point out what YOU can do other employees can not such as your bilingual skills. To speak more than one language in a doctors office can be very important. Make sure he understands that. Point out what else you do, in addition list things you do in addition to your job description.
Keep a positive attitude and don't let them bargain you down. If he does not give you what you want, start looking for a job where they would appreciate you more.
Good luck to you.
Question: TIRED OF THIS!!!! any help?????? Oh well. Im so TIRED of my job. I have almost a year working as Bilingual receptionist for this company and i didn't complain at all before but till they started asking me to do more things like recruiting and hiring ppl, when im just supposed to do what a receptionist do. Not just that, i wouldn't care if im doing that, but im not getting pay for the extra job! .... even for the extra hours!! ..... I dont like this job at all!!! i just got it bc i needed the money but not anymore. Bc of this job, i lost time in my college and i wasted alot of time already. Im not going to college.... which makes me sad cuz i really wanna go and finish my thing. Im thinking about to resign myself and keep doing my career things. but the problem is that i will finish my career in the states cuz im gonna get marry this year and my bf will take me there and he will help finish college. So that's why im not in college here any more too. What can i do? Im really confused about the decision i wanna take
my bf will take me to the states and he keeps telling me i will get a better education degree there. BUt what can i do in the mean time? Keepin workin like a little b****? or just getting into classes that can be productive for me?? I think i gotta keep working for saving up the money to go to the states.... but at the same time im sick and tired of it and i wanna improve myself doing things that i really like (ie. taking classes of design.. going to the gym,.... painting, drawing, etc etc etc.)
Answer: You have a goal of going to college in the US? I hope you realize that its quite expensive, as is everything else in the US. Since you know you will be leaving anyway, try to tough it out and use the extra experience you are getting as something to put on your resume. Almost all people here work even if they go to college, and if you are planning a career in the arts it never hurts to have a 'straight' job skill to fall back on. Try to stay with your present job, its the adult thing to do, and save your money to make it easier on your boyfriend and yourself later on.
