Question: How much should an Accounting Assistant for an insurance agency make? I have been working as a temp employee for two months and hope to soon be hired on full time at my agency, however, when it comes to salary negotiations, I am stumped. Does anyone know/have an idea what an Accounting Assistant (with a degree) that works for an insurance agency makes as salary? Thanks for the input!
Answer: $16 to $20 per hour. Assuming you'd be working 40 hours week that would be $33,280 - $41,600 a year.
Question: I have an interview for an accounting assistant position at a Marina. What should I wear? The position works with the manager of the marina on all the areas of accounting. They are very laid back and have not labeled our meeting as an interview but as a chance to get together. The position is located at an office at the marina. Should I wear a full suit or take it down a notch?
Answer: Business casual is good just wear something that is presentable for such an occasion though is not all business, nice shoes are a must, don't go in looking like a bum...just dress to impress.

Question: advise from someone who is working as accounting assistant? Does anyone here work as accounting assistant if so how did you get your first experience. I was told that i should work in as office assistant where accounting is used this way i'll get to learn more about accounting and maybe get experience in working with these software
Answer: I think the advice you received is valid. I have had a few people in my company that have started out as a receptionist or an office assistant and were later promoted into our accounting department. When you are interviewing be sure you ask about their promotional policies and look for a company that encourages internal promotions.
Another good option for yourself is to contact a recruiting agency which specializes in accounting and finance positions. These companies are free to you as they charge your future employer a fee when you are hired. They usually work pretty hard to find you a position where you can be happy.
Good Luck!
